The question often arises... why? If Jesus wanted to make an impact or difference, why did He come 2000 years ago instead of today, especially with mass communication available now. Well apart from the obvious conclusions of it being detrimental to His original cause, He would have to compete with today's people acting even worse than the Jews were back then in looking for earthly celebrity heroes; not to mention the fact the Christian religion grew regardless of His timing. So then, consider this as a prime reason. Crucifixion has been abolished.
It is unlikely back then He would have been given community service as today. Ineffective, considering His fame and law was based on just that. Highly doubt today a death penalty would be handed down for giving a priest a hard time (maybe banned from a forum for not sticking to temple 'rules'). Imagine the religion worshipping an electric chair instead of a cross.
Jesus today would at most have been given house arrest. It seems to me getting a weekend pass or stepping outside after three days indoors, would hardly have the same impact as resurrection from the dead. God knows what He is doing.
