Notre Dame...
The problem with the situation is that Obama was invited to speak in the first place. Now, President Obama has made his argument for abortion before you graduating class. "It's a hard choice for them," is like a chant used to ignore all those who the industry ignores and snubs. This is an outrage on its face, as it shows that the abortion industry is a government pet, rather than being treated even as harshly as another business type or health institution. Arguments on how heavily abortion is already regulated are beside the point, because the issue is contentious, basic rights are involved, and current policies are rarely designed to do anything but stem the most repugnant practices rejected by the vast majority of the population, such as partial birth abortion. My child can still undergo this surgery with my even knowing... wasn't that a judicial decision? So, fifteen year old girl with a thirty year old boyfriends needs more protection from their vagina more than they need protected from their boyfriend smuggling them across state lines for surgery no one will know about is something goes wrong. You wanted to talk. Who's going to protect them if something goes wrong?
But, that's not really what this is about. This is about the soul of Notre Dame. I said somewhere else that it would be better to send one's child to a secular institution. At least, there would be hope that the Catholicity of the Church therein would not be under the thumb of the relativism enabling local, disobedient, 'priest-king.' Thus, teaching children in its cesspool of bad Catholic teaching, based on permissive relativism and rationalization, that such behavior could be called Catholic.
And before you appeal to open speaking, reflect on the arrest of protesters, apparently peaceful ones, and the fact that Obama did not debate.
