My Tribute

This is a poem I wrote, regarding Hubby's grandpa. He was a great man and a true veteran....

A flag that waves in freedom
will never be the same
For it now has more meaning
as we think upon your name

Red stripes beam with courage
that was shown throughout each day
As you began to count your blessings
we watched blue skies turn from grey

White is your heart so pure
and the inspiration you have been
For upon the sea of life you sailed
with beacon shining unto men

Blue contains the wisdom
behind the stories you have told
You taught of battles, strength and hope
and how to, through it all, stand bold

When we feel a breeze pass through
and that flag begins to wave
We'll also see that smiling face
and feel the love you gave

Upon a pole of memories
with pride, our hearts begin to swell
As we salute an humble man of honor
who served God and country well
