Just sorting out some thoughts & ideas:
Glenn Beck has some good teachings like about what's going on with our government (and other governmants) and US history but I saw again tonight how he could be used by the enemy as well. I told my son to listen only with a careful ear.
Since GB isn't following Christ and under his guidance... he can lead people astray as well. Like tonight he was rebuking progressive elites ideas of human kind. Well sorry Glen but that is basically what the Bible teaches. Glenn is in other words promoting self-righteousness, self-authority, self-autonomy... basically that self rules.
We should not allow ourselves to be deceived by government but "self- determination is just another ditch, one that I know full well.
The answer is not to be influenced by governments or man (fear of man) or self led but to be under the Lordship of Jesus and the influence of the Holy Spirit.
Yes I believe in personal responsiblity but without being "under God" it just turns to self rule. The Bible says "that the human heart is desperately wicked" that "there is none righteous no not one" that man is determined to do evil or at best is led by self interest.
Proverbs 3:
5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
So me as a Christian though i'm learning new things about the workings of governments & their intentions, my focus hasn't changed since 20 yrs ago (when i didn't know all this stuff).
lol ha and though I know a lot of "end times" stuff that isn't why I think this way about the focus.
The focus was and still is that I believe the reason why Christians are still on the earth and not taken up into Heaven after we receive Christ, even as Paul talked about, it's because God has us here to be witnesses for Him. We're here to make HIm known, to show forth His glory and help bring about that the "whole earth will be filled with the knowledge of God." Jesus said, "If I be lifted up I will draw all men unto me". The "knowledge of God" isn't just to speak of "God" but also that God revealed himself to be Jesus as well, and that Jesus is the only way to God.
In order to reveal who God is, one therefore has to make clear who God is not. HA that helps to define and give shape... God is not anything and everything. He is who & what His word says He is (and is not).
Anyway though the time times change and all this crisis is all around- these fundamentals don't change. It's not like I'm all of a sudden going to be about becoming a survivalist or something or run off into the woods (I dont' even like the idea of running off into a monestary or commune type setting) Jesus said we are to still be in the world, but not of ( or like) it.
The Bible says we're not wrestling against flesh & blood (like government peopel) but against spiritual powers & principalities etc.
It is a spiritual warfare.
We must though train ourself to recognize resist, and train others to do the same-against false ideas, teachings mindsets etc. that the government, media or whoever tries to promote tries get to influence etc- us God's people. This would be whatever is against what the Bible teaches.
Another case in point that GB is NOT a leader for Christians. Oh some of his beleifs appear to be Biblical but look at how he has no problem with homosexuality. And now we're suppose to follow his ideology, instead of the Bible's- I think not.
Why then should I even consider what is going on with the governments, the media, politics etc. ?
1. Jesus said to watch & pray
Mark 13: 32But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
33Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
Luke 21:
34And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
35For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
1 Peter 4:
7But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
Matt 24:"32Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors."
He's saying there to learn & know... we will never know the day or the hour but we can know the season.
1 Thessalonians 5
1But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
Yes I admit that I am one of those for whom it is key to be consistantly watching in order to help me stay "sober minded" because my flesh is so easily distracted and filled with my own enjoyment and interests (however harmless those may seem). It's easy for me to get distracted by the busyness of life and not focus on my purpose.
Wow I guess that just 1. is enough for me right there. Plenty of verses and cause enough for me lol.
