  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hurry Up And Wait

Have you noticed that what we do is "hurry up and wait"?
We race around and get everything prepared and then wait for the event to happen.

Yet, note that Jesus, with all that He accomplished, never seemed to be in a hurry. He never seemed terribly rushed.
There is a sense of calm and peacefulness in almost every biblical story.

We live in fast times and pressured times. The world wants us to plan next year's time this year. We are supposed to think of Christmas in September. We are supposed to organize our time, energy and money. We are supposed to plan for retirement, even while we are quite young.

Thank goodness Jesus didn't worry about his "retirement plan", but rather focused on his "Resurrection Plan".

The light of the world is here, not to hurry us along, but to bathe us into being. Jesus knew the importance of enjoying each moment and living in each moment. He knew that the only way to balance his time, energy and resources was by first giving a major portion of his time to God.
He not only spent much time alone with God, He encouraged others to do the same.
