It's a year today that I was hospitalised but the memory is as fresh as if it happened yesterday.
I eventually returned to work though I insisted on a new line manager which I got whom was much more supportive and though she admitted she knew nothing about mental health she at least listened. It wasn't an easy journey but I got more support and training in the following six months than I had with my previous manager. Talking to colleagues in other departments it seemed I was not alone in how people were treated bu our management. Unfortunately I was forced to work in the same office as my previous manager, it was awkward at first, I can speak to him politely but I don't truly trust either him or his line manager who did nothing when I complained about how he had treated me and just sided with him. I have chosen to move on to a different role away from them so I won't have to pretend to be happy about the situation.
