Hell Or Lake Of Fire?

For a long time I was taught that Hell was the final destination of the wicked but, after reading Revelation closely this is wrong.

"And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
[...]
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
[...]
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."
[...]
"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake of fire which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

-Revelation 19:20; 20:10, 14-15; 21:8

We see that it is true that those of us who die in our sins will be thrown into the lake of fire. That deception was achieved through words and deeds reminds me of the infamous Niccolo Machiavelli:

"Men are so simple and so much inclined to obey immediate needs that a deceiver will never lack victims for his deception"

"One who deceives will always find those who allow themselves to be deceived."

It is no surprise for the deception began with Satan himself and spread to his men; and, this extended to Adam and Eve, Cain, and all men up to our time. If the sin we commit is a temporal one then why do we receive eternal punishment? The logic is that if we choose to do evil in this temporal life and turn not from them then what makes us think that we would turn from them in eternity? The story of the rich man and Lazarus makes it clear that those who do not care for the poor will themselves be made poor and burn in the lake of fire: and that this temporal life is our only chance to do the will of God and turn from sin. Once we pass from this life our fate is sealed. The parable of the talents also tells us that we will be judged not only for what we do but, for what we don't do. And because Satan paved the way of evil it stands that suffering the same punishment as him is only fitting since we chose to abandon the straight and narrow path that leads to life and walk the broad way which leads to death.

I pray that this message pricks our hearts and that we constantly clean ourselves of the false teachings of men and demons by making sure we read the Word of God carefully to be sure that we preach the truth and know it in order to avoid being cast into the lake of fire.
