I don't know if anyone else has noticed it but the more government does to protect our freedoms the less we have. I can remember the time when talking about JESUS on the street was generally accepted. No one claimed that you hurt their feelings by doing this. I can remember the time when the school day started with a hymn or a prayer. No one got upset and jumped up and down claiming discrimination. I can remember it not being wrong for the government to talk about God.
Now that people are being displaced all over the world to various countries, we are being forced to abandon our foundations and cater to every religion and idea man throws at us.
For instance, Muslims make up about 2% of the population of my country and as a result, we are not allowed to sing Christmas carols because we might offend them.
We are not allowed to serve ham sandwiches at civic functions because it is an affront to Muslims.
We are not allowed to say we support male/female marriage because that will hurt the sensibilities of homosexuals.
We are not allowed to call a boy a boy because that will hurt the sensibilities of transgenders.
We are not allowed to say in a speech "Ladies and Gentlemen" because there might be people there who are not a lady or a gentleman.
You are not allowed to address the chairman of a committee thus because that will offend the ladies present. The chairman or woman must be a chairperson or madam chair. (It is OK to identify a chair as female).
One of the stupidest I have come across is resident homosexual Alan Joyce who is in charge of Qantas the Australian national airline, who has told cabin staff that they are not to address passengers as "ladies and gentlemen" According to Alan we are things and we mustn't upset the feminists, transgenders, homosexuals, or any of the LGBTI and old uncle Tom Cobley and all. It's OK to upset the 99% of normal people on the flight, but not the one abnormal person.
Mind you, Alan Joyce is a hypocrite of the first order. Whilst he keeps trumpeting and supporting the demands of homosexuals, he is happy to do business with Etihad Airlines, owned by the UAR, a country that kills homosexuals for being homosexual.
That doesn't seem to bother him. I guess the dollar is more important than principle.
There is no doubt that the best form of government is self-government. Taking responsibility for your actions and not expecting the government to jump to attention everytime someone upsets you and in the case of weirdos, launching a million dollar lawsuit because they have been offended and in so many cases, supported by a Human Rights Commission.
Because of this government has made a mockery of freedom of speech and sad to say, as the weirdos are backed by the government to impose their will on the majority, the speech will lose its freedom.
