Link to original article- Why I Stopped Talking About Racial Reconciliation and Started Talking About White Supremacy | Inheritance

I just want to focus on this piece of the article where the author writes "Secondly, white Christianity suffers from a bad case of Disney Princess theology. As each individual reads Scripture, they see themselves as the princess in every story. They are Esther, never Xerxes or Haman. They are Peter, but never Judas. They are the woman anointing Jesus, never the Pharisees. They are the Jews escaping slavery, never Egypt. For citizens of the most powerful country in the world, who enslaved both Native and Black people, to see itself as Israel and not Egypt when studying Scripture is a perfect example of Disney princess theology. And it means that as people in power, they have no lens for locating themselves rightly in Scripture or society — and it has made them blind and utterly ill-equipped to engage issues of power and injustice. It is some very weak Bible work."

I thought that this was a very interesting accusation made by Erna Hackett.

First and foremost, lets get this out of the way once again. YES! White people including white Christians were slave owners two hundred years ago. She makes sure to bring this up in the article as if nobody knew that. We all know and acknowledge that this happened and is a part of American Church history. Of course, these Christians WERE racist. We all agree on this.

My question to Erna is this: where do you place yourself when you read the scriptures? Do you place yourself as the hero or the villain? The princess or the bad guy?

See, if any honest Christian was asked "are you the good or bad guy in this story?" they would say "Neither! These events happened thousands of years ago!" I have never seen a Christian say to me "hey look, im Esther in this story." That's just a foolish statement and nobody does that.

If we are going to go back into the old testament and truly try and find ourselves we can. It's very simple, ready?
"“I, the LORD, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the GENTILES," Isaiah 42:6 unless of course you are a Jewish believer in Jesus then you would be "“Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah—" Jeremiah 31:31

So are we the princess in either of these verse? Or are we just followers of God through the new covenant? I would say we are the latter.

I'd also like to point out that if you were to ask them "where do you find yourself in the pages of the Bible?" they would most likely point you to verses like these:
"This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief." 1 Timothy 1:15 (emphasis on chief sinner)
and
"O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?" Romans 7:24 (emphasis on wretched man)

The last part of this section is very funny to me. Erna thought that "white Christians" comparing themselves to Peter instead of Judas falls under her "Disney Princess" accusation. While she's calling out "white Christians" for bad theology she throws herself under the bus with her lack of biblical knowledge. Its either she's ignorant of the scripture or she misunderstand why a Christian would say that they are like Peter. I happen to think that I relate to Peter very well and maybe the most of all the apostles. Want to know why? Lets look:
"But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” Matthew 16:23

"And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” Matthew 14:28-30

"And Peter remembered the word of Jesus who had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” So he went out and wept bitterly." Matthew 26:75

Want to know why I'm like Peter? I constantly doubt the Lord and struggle in my faith. I proclaim Jesus but fail. Most importantly I'm an average guy, nothing special. Just a sinner saved by grace. A sinner that God uses and will use.

Erna, I reject your accusation of "white Christians" having a "Disney Princess theology". You are falsely accusing your brethren, you are lying, you are slandering and you are spreading false gossip. Please repent. What you are doing is interpreting how an entire group of people reads the Bible, blatantly misrepresenting it and then proceeding to push that wrong interpretation onto us.

This is a time where we need to unite around Jesus Christ and not divide from within. When you falsely accuse, you are aligning yourself with Satan "Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the ACCUSER OF THE BRETHREN, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down." Revelation 12:10
and you're dividing the church when we should be uniting around the gospel of Christ.

"And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand." Mark 3:25
