One of the most famous chapters in the Bible. I've heard it read at funerals, marriages and of course Mass. It's interesting that non Christians can sit up and take notice of it. Why? Because it rings true . In a cold world where ambition and money seem to dominate, it resonates. Deep down, we all know that patience is what we should strive for instead of falling prey to irritability. Giving up is so much easier than hanging in there. Having faith and hope is far more challenging than being cynical and saying to oneself "why should I care, no one else does." And who can say they have totally forgiven everyone for everything in their past? (ok there might be a few of you
)
Love is the ultimate challenge and that's why we have the metaphor of the "narrow gate." It's not easy. It's an ideal. It's something we cant possibly achieve on our own. Now I realise that. I cant do this by myself. I cant love people how God wants them loved, unless I allow Him to take charge. Any love we have, comes from The Source anyway.
