Occasional musings drawn from the depths of my Reformed faith.
Thank you for visiting my TOL Randomata Blog!
This blog is primarily focused upon theological topics along the lines of the Reformed tradition.
You may be wondering, "I have heard about Calvinists, but what is Reformed?"
A Calvinist is someone who affirms the doctrines of grace commonly defined by the acrostic, TULIP. Generally speaking, the word Reformed means those that affirm—without taking major scruples—one of the historical confessions of the Reformationera (Second Helvetic Confession, the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism or the Westminster Standards), all of which which necessarily include the doctrines of grace as well as specifics related to church polity, principles of worship, baptism, and more.
Per the above, there are two things to keep in mind:
All Reformed are Calvinists.
Not all Calvinists are Reformed.
Given the anti-Reformed rhetoric that often is found on internet discussion sites, I have disabled the ability to leave comments to my blog entries. I prefer to not give the canaille a platform for their uninformed nonsense. That said, if you have something sincere to ask about what you have read here, feel free to send me a private message and I will do my best to answer you. Also, please cast your votes, using the Rate this Entry feature, for each item that you read.
Now go grab your favorite beverage, settle back comfortably with your Bible nearby, and begin your journey of discovery of the wonderful teachings of Scripture that were recovered from the corruption of the visible church in the years leading up to the Protestant Reformation. Afterwards, it is my prayer that you will be better equipped to understand why we Protestants are protesting.
