14th August 2006

Whoop! The Mercy Ministries fliers arrived today...mind you, I'm no entirely sure there are enough of them (all 10 that I was sent ), so I might need to print out more off the internet. This is really exciting! Now I have to talk to my school and see when we can do a promo for the fundraiser and email the lady I'm in contact with at MM to see what the next step is ^_^. Excitement plus!

The verses today come from Zephaniah 3:17-18.
"The Lord your God is with you; His power gives you victory. The Lord will take delight in you, and in His love He will give you a new life. He will sing and be joyful over you, as joyful as people at a festival."

How awesome is that? "The Lord your God is with you" - He surrounds me, He watches me, He saturates me from head to toe with His perfect love and grace. Not only does He love me though - He's giving me a new life where He wipes the slate clean of all the wrong things I've done and He is overjoyed at seeing me. Wow.

Have you ever pictured God singing? I think we tend to get too caught up in the 'judge' figurehead of God. The guy who sits on His throne a million light-years away and couldn't care less about what we're doing. Maybe we picture Him as an old man with beard and walking stick - too old and too tired to care. Would He sit in one of those old, comfy chairs and watch the world as though it were a black and white tv?

You know, I don't believe that stereotypical picture of God. I was reading kimber1's signature yesterday and I have to say - I love it! I too am thankful that God sees in colour and not just black and white. He was beaten. He was betrayed. He was lied to. He knows what it's like to hurt. He went all out to make sure that you and I could sing and laugh and paint with Him in Heaven. Why are we so quick to assume that He hates us because we fell? Sure, you stuffed up - so what? It hurt God, but He still loves you with such an amazing passion. Don't beat yourself up about it - get back up, dust off your clothing and learn to skip with your scraped knees.

I don't think I'll ever be able to comprehend exactly how much He loves me. Slowly but surely though I'm starting to learn that I don't need to have all the answers - I just need to be willing to take that leap of faith and follow Him. Let Him be my light while I'm surrounded by darkness.

As Steven Curtis Chapman once sang...

I'm diving in, I'm going deep. In over my head I want to be. Caught in the rush, lost in the flow, in over my head I want to go.

The river's deep, the river's wide, the river's water is alive - so sink or swim I'm diving in!
