I guess that's what I'm getting at: are there any 'fringe' theories that were hushed up but uncovered by internet slueths?

Obviously a fact isn't very well hushed up if it's posted on the internet where anyone can see it. A conspiracy that can be uncovered merely by surfing online isn't much a conspiracy at all unless perhaps the internet sleuth's work involved hacking. One must dig deeper than that. Of course this question would exclude just about any conspiracy exposed before the mid 90's. Conspiracy theories long predate the internet.
