I wrote this poem some years ago. When I was a child of eleven, and a believer in Christianity, I needed God to give me some evidence of his presence as I was in dire need of comfort and support. I had an issue which troubled me and gave me unpleasant nightmares. I never ever had any sense of the presence of the deity or Jesus. If they couldn't support a child either they didn't care, or more likely they didn't exist. The doubts grew until I lost my faith by the end of my teenage years.

•Where Are You God?

•Where are you God when we need you?
•Where are you God when we pray?
•Where are you God in our darkness?
•Where are you God in our day?
•Where are you God in grief’s anguish?
•Where are you God in our despair?
•Where are you God in our torment?
•Where are you God, are you there?
•Where are you God when we’re hurting?
•Where are you God in our pain?
•Where are you God in our crying?
•Where are you God, please explain?

So you are saying you threw up a wall against God when you were eleven. I am familiar with that wall; I put it up when I am disappointed about whatever is going on in my life. Worship of God has to occur regardless of our circumstances. Nightmares are not of God. Many things happen to us as kids (and as adults too) that are not of God, but because they don't seem to have a human source, our tendency is to blame God for them. And when we are blaming him, our eyes are not open to see everything he does for us. God was right there in your life, and still is. The promise is that if we seek Him with all of our hearts, we will find Him. But that attitude is not a seeking attitude; it is a wall-building attitude, and the fact that you had to build that wall means that you knew there was Someone you were trying to keep out, the One you felt was to blame for your troubles.

I am 65. I have never smoked, or being near and illegal drug in my life. Naturally I drink alcohol in strict moderation. Jesus seemed very fond of his booze and not in moderation either. I dislike inappropriate content and would never indulge in it, but there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with sex in an adult consenting relationship.

I don't believe any god exists so don't communicate with one, although I do read the Bible to see if I have missed anything, which I don't believe I have.

Bible speaks about Lazarus the poor, who is the most unfortunate of all
But His Mercy is more than living thats why Lazarus never complained.
He died on the cross for all of us though He can put those people to death at once,
God let Him died so He can resurrect Him from death in order that people may know He is really really from God.

May Jesus bless you all HalleluYAH

I don't think any of that is credible. Of course I could be wrong, but nothing yet has persuaded me otherwise.

2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. - James 1

31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. - Luke 22

Everything hinges in your faith and gratitude... Let either on down and you are simply a lost man!

1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? - Luke 18

Hear the tale of the widow in the city...

She kept coming back...
She kept coming back...
She kept coming back...
She kept coming back...
She kept coming back...
She kept coming back...

Kept coming back!

And what about the people who play lottery tickets. Even though they loose...

They keep coming back...
They keep coming back...
They keep coming back...
They keep coming back...
They keep coming back...
They keep coming back...

Keep coming back!

Unbelief does not exist in the dog track
Unbelief does not exist in the world
Unbelief does not exist in the horse track
Unbelief does not exist in the casino
Unbelief did not exist with the widow in the city
Unbelief does not exist with those who play lottery tickets

There is only one place unbelief exists... And that is in the church!

He was there along. Children often have been taught wrongly the real expectations about God. Now as an older person you hopefully have read Psalm or the Gospels. We walk by faith, not sight. Read Romans 1 God has given you all the evidence about His existence you need. Now you know about Jesus what have you done to follow Him or are you still in an eleven year olds sadness?

I believe Jesus was a human like the rest of us, with charisma, possibly, but faults and failing too. He said some sensible things but I would certainly have challenged him on other things he is supposed to have said.

Scripture references?
Scripture references?

Wine gets mentioned a lot in the gospels, Jesus even made it part of the sacrament! He ensured the wine didn't run out at the wedding party, if that story has any credence. Weddings tend to be events where people imbibe too much alcohol, I bet it was the same 2000 years ago, as it is today. I enjoy alcohol, but in very strict moderation. I have never been drunk in the whole of my 65 years!

Not only didn't you provide any Scripture references, but neither did you make the case that "Jesus seemed very fond of his booze and not in moderation either."

And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. - Luke 21:34

But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; - Luke 12:45

Why would Christ warn us against drunkenness and be drunk himself? I am sure that he would have a little wine from time to time as there were no other beverages at the time but scripture never records the Christ as being drunk!

You are 65 years old and have made it this far... I am sorry sir but the scripture does not record that we will not serve God and not go through nothing! When Michigan lost a heart breaker to Michigan State the response of the coach was that they were going to have to put some steel in their spines and move ahead. This is the kind of faith that produces results.

Well read the gospels for yourself you will find it all there!
I have read the gospels dozens of times. Nowhere does it record Jesus being drunk.

And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. - Luke 21:34

He might not have been recorded as drunk but wine appeared to play a big part in his life!

I do not see how you jump to this conclusion. You seem to have constructed a strawman Jesus to find fault with. Even though there is not one shred of evidence to support the contention, for argument's sake let us pretend that I agreed that Jesus liked to drink wine to excess. How would his doing that contradict any of the claims he made about himself? Does your own admitted lack of experience with drunkenness make you less tolerant of that behavior in others than you would be of behaviors you do participate in but others might find just as intolerable as you seem to find drunkenness?

Finally, It would be interesting to know your motivation for this post. Why did you decided to approach this website , one that by its title would seem to be the abode of true believers, with your disappointment in Christ rather than going to a website where your observations would have been more likely to have been reinforced by the approval of those of like mind?
