After reading the Mariology Study Resources thread, it becomes quite clear to some that Mary is more than just a blessed woman and human vessel for christ, she's:

the Mother of God,

co-redemptrix,

intercessor,

the Immaculate Ark of the New Covenant,

Mother and Queen of the New Davidic Kingdom,

Ever Virgin,

has Assumption into Heaven,

has Coronation in Heaven,

Queen of heaven and earth,

Can we now say that Mary was with God when God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:" ?

Can we also assume that Mary is the female part of God, as God "created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." ?

So, if we can assume Mary is the Female part of God, surely Mary was involved in creating the Heavens and earth in (Gen 1v1) ? Surely she's more than Queen of heaven and earth ?

Is it possible that Maryolotry is on course for the full deity eleviation of Mary the mother of Jesus christ?

You can say or assume anything that you would like really, but if you say or assume any of these things...you would be sorely lost and heading away from God. It seems like you are assuming that those who do respect and love The Mother of God, put her above Jesus....your very wrong. We do not pray to Mary instead of God, or take away from God by praying to Mary....we pray in addition to praying to God, to help bring us closer to Him. I don't know why this is so hard to understand, why people try to make it out to be what it is not...

Why is Mary holding Christ? Christ Held Mary in the palm of His hand. This is backwards..

Do you purposefully look for evil in that which is good? There is nothing backwards about the Theotokos holding her Son and our God. It shows His Humility and vulnerability in coming to us as a babe.

May God have mercy upon us all,
Christina

Because like any good mother, she held Him and hugged Him and nursed Him and kissed all of His booboos.

Yes she did but He grew up and then in return healed all of her booboo's and gave her eternal life.. This is what bothers me about this. Jesus didn't stay small. He grew up.. He became sin for us. Even Mary. God held Mary in the palm of His hand. Mary is Holy because of Christ in her. NOt because of anything that she did or did not do..

Are you sure you really believe that Christ came to us as a baby born of a woman?

You sure don't like to be reminded of it. :)

Christ was a baby just as all of us were. He needed a mother and father to take care of Him. Do you think Mary never held Him? Never nursed Him? Never fed Him or changed whatever they wore for diapers in those days?

That icon illustrates Truth. Mary bore Jesus Christ, Who is God. Her God and our God. In the icon, she is pointing us to Christ. There is nothing in that icon that is not Truth.

Mary

You asked about an icon...in the icon, it depicts Jesus as a small child being held by His mother. I answered you, why would an icon of The Blessed Mother holding The Baby Jesus bother you?

This is very, very beautiful by the way, thank you for sharing it!! Could you tell us about it? It looks very old, where is it located? What is The Baby Jesus holding?

Christ is holding a parchment in his hand which is most likely the Holy Scriptures, possibly a prophecy about Him.

I do not know how old the icon is, but I did find out a little about it's history:

When, in 1822, the Holy Mountain was occupied by a Turkish garrison, a soldier dared to shoot at the icon of the Theotokos on the outside of the Monastery, above the entrance. The bullet damaged the right hand of the Theotokos, and the sacrilegious culprit, who was a nephew of the commander of the squad, went mad and hanged himself from an olive tree in the garden opposite the entrance to the Monastery. Now the Monastery was in grave danger of reprisals and looting, but a fellow-soldier of the suicide realised what was going on and told his uncle. The commander admitted that this was indeed a case of divine retribution and ordered that his nephew's body should be denied burial.

Love,
Christina:)
