Wisconsin father punched, killed 5-year-old son for eating Father's Day cake, prosecutors say

Travis Stackhouse told police he punched the boy in the stomach [note: said boy was 5 years old] and hit him in the face

his girlfriend often warned him "not to hit the children so hard,"

Stackhouse is being held on a $25,000 bond

For comparison: The woman charged with manslaughter because she got in a fight and someone else shot her in the stomach causing a miscarraige, is on a $50 000 bond.

Perhaps it's time to explain that these two cases are completely unrelated. It looks like a lot of replies are from posters who don't understand that.

Yes, warned him OFTEN we are told.
A case of too little too late as far as ringing the police.
How does warning him not to hit the child make her an accessory? She wasn't even home when this happened--she called them after she got home.

No, the girlfriend had "warned him OFTEN not to hit so hard"._
She is an accessory as far as i can see and as someone previously posted, she didn't have to confront him herself, that's why we have police.
You’ve obviously never been in an abusive relationship. You’re too scared to move otherwise you’d get the abuse not your child .

Then don’t read my post.
How does one know if a posting (of anyone) will be offensive enough to comment on that offense, if one doesn’t read it?
I’m very curious!

Except what I posted wasn’t offensive. Off-color perhaps, but not offensive.

The girlfriend should also be held accountable and he should have life no question.
Horrific and if he had been warned by the girlfriend often, what that precious little boy must have gone through in his short life defies description.

May he rest in peace in the arms of God his TRUE loving Father.
A more recent news report said that the man had been arraigned in court. No charges were filed against the mother. If the police who investigated the case don’t see a reason to charge her, why should she be charged?

That is true for literally none of the replies. Only one person responded to the comparison to the second case, and they clearly understood the difference. Which leads me to suspect that the one that lacks understanding is you. Ironical stuff. Is it that you think that others think that the girlfriend in the first case is being confused with one of the women in the second?

Very sad news indeed.

Perhaps we could all honor this child's memory by not engaging in our own violence towards one another in this thread.
Yes, I totally agree, I need to be more careful and am over the niggling here especially when a precious child is involved.
May he have the peace and love that only God can give.

I think that they believed the topic was whether or not the mother should have been charged.....because for some reason you decided to include the sparse details of a completely unrelated case.

If I'm wrong, and that is the topic, it's possible she could be charged with negligence or maybe even child abuse...which seems like a stretch.

Accomplice to murder implies that she helped in some way with the crime and her words demonstrate the opposite.

Except the police charged him with reckless homicide, but did not charge her with anything. If they believed that she should be charged, such charges would have been filed by now. She had told her boyfriend on the past to stop hitting the boy, she wasn’t present when this assault occurred and she called 9-11 when she got home. How is that criminal?
