I hear many times from Christians that the bible says that the earth is not flat. I was just wondering which verse from the bible they get his from?

I don't think it says that. I also don't think it says it IS flat, which is a more correct way of saying it. It's important to recognize poetry for being poetic

Isaiah 40:22

New King James Version (NKJV)

22 It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,
And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers,
Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,
And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

A circle is a FLAT 2D shape. So this verse says that the earth is flat.

From the perspective of the biblical authors, they most probably did view the earth as flat. Scripture often describes the earth resting upon pillars for support.

Of course Scripture isn't about giving us lessons in cosmology, so bronze age cosmological views are rather irrelevant in the big picture.

A projection of a sphere is a circle. When you see a picture of an earth, is it a circle? Can you see a 3D earth?

No, contrary to popular belief, the Earth is flat. If you go out sailing on the ocean, you will eventually go over a precipice into an abyss full of snarling sea monsters that will gobble you up, then poop you out on the Lost City of Atlantis so King Neptune and the Little Mermaid will have a gargantuan time cleaning up sea monster feces from the watery streets and domed buildings there.

Right. I remember reading that in 1 Hesitations 6:13

So to end this topic. According to the bible the earth is flat.

No, it's not. The "circle" you refer to, is a word that has 3 dimensional meaning. Hebrew is tricky like that. and nearly every mention of such thing is poetry. Ya got nuthin'

The Bible is not a science text book, and reading it as if it were ... does no one any favors.

So are you saying when it says circle it doesnt mean circle? So instead of saying yeah it does, your going to its hebrew meaning it has multiple meanings. Oh ok couldnt you do that with anything. Isnt it just pretty simple it says circle a 2d flat shape. And if the original hebrew has different meaning why is translated to circle then. But ok i understand your point. Ive got the answer cheers.

It also means compass.

Such as, "When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth" Prov 8:27

There is also Job 16:7, "He stretches out the north over the void and hangs the earth on nothing." Job 26:7

And again, something which is impossible to do with a disc, but possible with a spherical object, "He has inscribed a circle on the face of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness" Job 26:10

It doesn't.. Google it.

The bible is flawless.

A spherical earth is also described in Isaiah 40:21-22—“the circle of the earth.”

Note, the Biblical Hebrew word for “circle” (חוג—chuwg) can also mean “round” or “sphere.”

The implication of a round earth is seen in the book of Luke, where Jesus described his return, Luke 17:31. Jesus said, “In that day,” then in verse 34, “In that night.” This is an allusion to light on one side of the globe and darkness on the other simultaneously. [JSM]

Yes the KJV does say circle of the earth. Now the real question should be does the KJV reflect the original Hebrew? Or do you believe the Hebrew people used the KJV themselves? Next question is God bound by the English translation of the bible? So lets look at the Hebrew word

The word in question is:
chuwg
Outline of Biblical Usage
1) circle, circuit, compass, sphere
2) (BDB) vault (of the heavens)
Blue Letter Bible - Lexicon

Is English a second language to you, or are you unfamiliar as to how English dictionaries work?

Any time a word has several definitions like for instance:
chuwg
Outline of Biblical Usage
1) circle, circuit, compass, sphere
2) (BDB) vault (of the heavens)

The word in question can be defined by any of the following meanings.

This means what was translated "circle of the earth" (For the purposes of trying to maintain the poetry in the original language) can also mean or be translated Sphere of the Earth.

Also know the other words in definition 1 all describe a circumference, completeness or continuity. Not the tangible objects circle circuit or compass now describe. How can we know this? because those objects were not around 3000+ years ago when this passage was written.

I think that is massive claim which you must see is false. Just look at jesus' family tree. Mathew 1. Luke 3:23 they are completely different. The bible is not flawless.

Appearently you have not "looked at the genology you have pointed to very well.
Luke is recording Mary’s genealogy and Matthew is recording Joseph’s. Matthew is following the line of Joseph (Jesus’ legal father), through David’s son Solomon, while Luke is following the line of Mary (Jesus’ blood relative), though David’s son Nathan. There was no Greek word for “son-in-law,” and Joseph would have been considered a son of Heli through marrying Heli's daughter Mary. Through either line, Jesus is a descendant of David and therefore eligible to be the Messiah. Tracing a genealogy through the mother’s side is unusual, but so was the virgin birth.
