Double standard. It's bad to desecrate a Yankee monument (even though we now know it was a hoax), but it's ok to desecrate a Southern monument?

Because that would allow the issue to be settled. I thought of that possible solution immediately, but you know it would never be acceptable to those who want to keep things stirred up. The suggestion would immediately be greeted with comments not unlike those we've read here on CF--The Confederacy was evil, so any such flag is unacceptable, they lost so their memory deserves to be erased, etc.

You know that's what would be said, even though we started out with the claim that the battle flag was the one that was seen by unnamed Americans to be a symbol of hate because the KKK used it and the Charleston shooter was pictured holding it.

The Civil War has the highest casualty number of any United States war. More than every other war after combined. Why is that? Because numbers are combined from both sides, not just the winning[or Union] side.

Confederate memorials have been being desecrated all over the South for the past week. Where is the outrage there? And not just hanging a flag that can be taken down, but spraypainted, which is much more costly to repair.

I'm saying the news jumped all over this "racist desecrating a memorial to black soldiers". But as soon as it was discovered it was a black activist that did it, the conversation suddenly shifted back to how bad the South was, etc etc.
