The legal question is not, did Trump have the documents, the legal question is, did Trump have a legitimate legal right to have the documents.

Actually, no, that isn't the legal question. If Trump (and his lawyers) legitimately believed he had a legal right to the documents, then he should have challenged the subpoena in court. That Trump didn't return documents specifically required by the subpoena to be returned, didn't challenge the subpoena in court, but instead lied about having returned all documents and allegedly hiding them destroys the claim that Trump believed he had a legitimate legal right.

Yes I will continure to believe that the lawyers are well qualified just as some people will continue to hope that Trump will be found guilty of something after all the effort that has been put into getting him over the past 6 years. So far my belief seems affirmed, Trump has not been found guilty of any criminal violations.

Courts decide guilt or the lack thereof when someone is charged with an offense. As was noted, the Presidential Records Act is clear - all documents belong to the National Archive at the end of an administration. We don't need the courts to decide that because it's already an extant and interpreted law.
