If your heart had stopped beating you were dead, there are no if's how's or but's about that, you were dead.
What shocked you back into life? remember, being dead is a physical thing not a mental thing, if your heart had stopped your brain was also seconds from dying caused by the lack of oxygen.

Not really.

Abnormal cardiac rhythms and even a temporary stopping of the heart, happens quite often. The brain can survive with a non beating heart for several minutes and especially so, when CPR is induced.

Indeed, the human body is pretty resilient. There is a British guy that survived a heart stoppage of 70 minutes, apparently with no ill effect. And a Canadian lady was found unconscious in freezing conditions and was revived after 3 hours 40 minutes of heart stoppage. Lowering the body temperature makes the chance of recovery after a long time much greater.

That technique is often used in open heart surgery, where the body temperature is lowered to about 32° C (90° F), so the heart can be stopped up to 45 minutes while being operated upon.

Hi there!

So I got to wondering about evolution, and this question came to mind:

Why aren't medical clinics referred to as animal clinics, like all the others are?

Because the individuals treating the patients are the same species as the patients. When the individuals doing the treating are a different species to the patients, then they are called vets.

That's a goofy rule.

In a Linnaean sort of way ... no argument there.

And once again you write something that makes no sense. What does Linneaus have to do with the fact that a person who specialized in studying the human body for medical reasons would be very bad at helping animals and a person who specialized in studying the various animal bodies for medical reasons would be a very bad at helping people?
