A somewhat humorous KJV error

Not to steal this post but I thought I may add this. It has been said that shakespeare aided in the KJV translation. Now I'm not into bible codes however, this is interesting. Look at Psalm 46 in the KJV translation and count 46 words down from the beginning (starting with "God") and then count 46 words up from the end (starting at "refuge".) It's quite interesting.

It only works if you do not count the "Selah" at the end.

All translations have "shake" and "spear" in Psalm 46 because that's what the Hebrew says.

Apparently the translators of the KJV wanted to leave no doubt that it was an English translation.....

1Sa 10:24 And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen, that [there is] none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, God save the king.



2Sa 16:16 And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, was come unto Absalom, that Hushai said unto Absalom, God save the king, God save the king.


2Ki 11:12 And he brought forth the king's son, and put the crown upon him, and [gave him] the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.


2Ch 23:11 Then they brought out the king's son, and put upon him the crown, and [gave him] the testimony, and made him king. And Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, God save the king.

When we go back into the original Hebrew, we find that there is nothing about "God" or "saving" in these verses. A better translation would read "Long live the King". It was simlyan English phrase incorporated into the Bible.

So much for the KJV being error-free....

HA HA!! This is something very fun to laugh about it, but someone will get offended!

Of course we could look at it as being a 17th c dynamic equivalence

God save the king is perfectly fine. The difference between "God save the king" and "long live the king" is inconsquentialy, considering that if the king lives long it is because God allowed him to anyway. This is nothing like the NIV's changing "flesh" to "body" about 10 times with repect to Christ's flesh. That makes an actualy difference because there were heresies that allowed that Jesus had a body but refused to believe it was made of flesh.
