I'm not suggesting we need to be gaudy. There is nothing worse than cracked makeup. I'm simply saying we need to take care of ourselves and care how we look.

I suppose it depends on the man you'd like to attract.

At least to me, modesty is more attractive than anything you adorn your body or skin with.

Does that help?
I think African American hair that is moussed is exquisitely beautiful.

God does not always protect. My daughter was raped twice (and she was dressed modestly both times).

Sorry about your daughter. I was molested once (been avoiding men since then) and lost count of inappropriate touches and inappropriate conversations. I am a man but most of my perpetrators are men and not all of them are gays.

I am straight but I look feminine enough to catch unwanted attention. Even my BO is like that of a girl, I don't know why.

I don't easily trust men as a result.. I rarely found men who are worth that trust - to be entrusted with a young girl that is. And yet, religion makes men authority figures. Something is quite messed up in our world and is probably worshiping the devil disguised as god.

Very sorry to hear.
I was only abused as a child.

I'm so very sorry to hear about the molest. It seems to happen to far to many people, and it does so much damage. I pray that God will give you healing and peace.

Thanks you two it was a long time ago i was 12 then and i was simply wearing my typical boy get up.

id have to be honest. If youre pretty it seem theres nothing you can do short of covering your face you are in danger if you happen to be alone with a grownup man. Just avoid being in such situation and always remain sober

Rape is a crime of power, not of sexual interest. It has nothing to do with how attractive you are or how you are dressed. 80 year old women in sweats get raped.

Folks get back on topic of how Christian ladies are supposed to dress. This is not a thread to discuss rape or molestation. Sorry if you went through that but this thread is not a place to discuss this as it's off topic.

With regards to how Christian women should dress, there's
evidently a slogan, "Modest is Hottest" that's been going
around. I recently came across an article on why that
phrase is misleading at best.

“'Modest is hottest' is a phrase that needs to disappear.
Immediately. It needs to be completely erased from
the Christian lexicon—because it plays right into the
secular objectification and hyper-sexualization of women."

I love hyper sexualization. When I was an Orthodox Jew, and we dressed extremely modestly, and men were not allowed to touch women (not even a handshake) it was extremely sensual for a man to even cross the "line" and come over and talk to us women. I remember getting all flustered when a man would compliment me on my smile. It was all sorts of romantic. I truly miss those days.

Well, there is a lot to be said for leaving more to the
imagination. Such restraint does have advantages.

Hmm... It would seem you don't love hypersexualisation as much as being once bent to the customs of Orthodox Jew..

I've seen it before. I'm a foreign expat here in Saudi. They have quite exceptional segregation of the genders here in their religious laws.

After a long time, now here in Saudi, I feel flustered too when a woman even looks at me or sits right next to me and swings her hijab right into my face - I think this is their way of flirting. One time, a woman accidentally bumped into me at the grocery store, even held my waist so she don't fall over and then after realizing that I'm a man, she looked like she's seen a ghost but otherwise seemed quite excited by the incident and her lady friend was laughing!

Fun times really, we were like children!!

I think Christian women should use common sense when dressing and so should Christian men. You can dress so as not to project your sexuality without losing your femininity. I have no problem seeing women in jeans or shorts or even sweats in the Winter. I have a problem when they put their looks and accessories to such a place that it becomes their focus. It has a lot to do with where their heart is rather than what they wear.....that goes for both men and women.

This your point of view is held by so many Christians part-taking in this dressing error. But just as I asked a young lady who supported this point of view as a christian; "Does it then mean that if you have the right heart or motive, you can then wear pant out, and see nothing wrong with it, even when others are lusting after you?"
