There are no living, functioning children who were "born without [a brain]." There are children who were born with varying degrees of brain tissue in various configurations who, while "functional" have many developmental and intellectual disabilities.

The brain is very much needed. Without the brain a person does not exist. You are your brain. There are no examples of minds existing without brains. The arrogance of this post is astounding. That one might call medical professionals who have studied the brain extensively and rely on decades worth of peer-reviewed literature and their own experience "ignorant". Just wow.

Your amusing comment reminded me of an incident almost half a century ago. I was on a oil field charter flight in an old DC3. The drunk worker (No HSE in those days) on my right pointed out the window at the propellor. "See those, see these big fans? They are there to keep the wings cool. Without them the wings would get hot, melt and fall off."
