The idea of breaking the cross is just a particularly sensationlist version of the same iconoclasm you find in the Bible and in Judaism. When Mashiach comes, tradition says, the gentiles will destroy their own pagan temples and break their own idols, out of shame and embarassment. It also says:

the nations will come to you from the ends of the earth and say, "Our ancestors possessed nothing but false gods, worthless idols in which there is no profit.

To be honest I think Yeshua will WELCOME the maculation of statues of himself writhing painfully on the crucifix as much as the maculation of statues of Kali or Santa Muerte. Crosses that are just two intersecting lines wouldn't be the focus.

A Biblical generation is defined in Psalms as "70 or 80 years" so it could between those two. 70 sounds like the most Biblical number out of the 11 numbers available.

The sea existed when John wrote "is not now", a phrase which has to refer to something that didn't exist in his day. Or at least so I read it.
