You prefer Roman to Greek?

Or is it that Cyrenius is KJB, and KJB talk is taboo?

Ok, AV, I'm going to let you let this slide. Because, you REALLY don't want to go down this road.

If you still want me to respond to your question, I'm happy to do so. Otherwise, let it slide, and I'll not say another word about it.

Yes, indeed.

Get back to arguing Cyrenius vs Quirinus and taxation vs census and governor vs [whatever] and 4 BC vs 8 or 10 BC and whatever else it is that keeps the fires lit.

Are you saying that the majority of Christians read what Genesis says about the creation and don't believe it? Those people obviously aren't "believers" if they don't believe.

SERIOUSLY? I am so irritated by C+ level English lit students. Get a B+. That will help so much.

Suit yourself. What is your first name, AV? Give a fake one if you want.

Ok. I'll start with the easy question:

If you met somebody from some random country, would you correct them if they called you Felipe?
No.

But if Record A said Phillip was governor of Guam in 1976, and Record B said Felipe (me) was never a governor until 1980, I could go two routes:

Route 1: Insist go with Record A.
Route 2: Insist go with Phillip over Felipe.

No Christian can disagree that Jesus created the world. Pretty basic. Jesus also created man....Adam and Eve.
I do believe theistic evolution gives God the credit for getting things rolling.

Yes, and it also largely negates the existence of an actual historical couple called Adam and Eve. I don't understand why so many Christians have such a big problem with that.

I'm not sure why you guys want to call this Roman by his Greek name, but that is, of course, your prerogative.

I have a feeling you call Caesar by his Roman name, but again, it's your prerogative.

Setting this aside, I think the real meat of the problem is not his name, but when he ruled.

And, of course, the Bible says he was governor of Syria; therefore he was governor of Syria.

For the record, even if I was to agree with you -- and I certainly don't -- but even if I was to agree with you, it doesn't mean a thing.

You do realize that the book of Hebrews was written anonymously, don't you?

And we certainly consider Hebrews an inspired book.

Satan's scholars want to make them anonymous, so as to render Foxe's Book of Martyrs ineffectual.

Satan must have planted some good evidence to show they were anonymous then. That naughty guy.

In reality, most Christians don't have a problem with it. The minority group that does though, whines a lot about it.

When in doubt, use the satan label.

Whether you like it or not AV, the majority of NT scholars and historians agree, the gospels were anonymous and most these folks, are Christians.

That is strange. I was under the impression that this is a discussion forum and that we should explain our positions as a natural progression of the discussion.

For AV, that is the natural progression of the discussion. I predict it will end with something along the lines of "Your impression can take a hike."
