fizzled, was weighed in the balance and found wanting, cut off at the root, etc...

I would describe it as a thump-and-run. Go crazy over a current event/prophecy/sign, then drop every notion that you ever were going crazy about it when it falls through.

Thus, the futurequote. Lemme be the big meanie who spells out what NiceJim seems to hint at with semi-rhetorical questions ;)

Oh...and the guys that were thumping in the other direction found somebody else to gripe about ^_^

And so those who never gripe (wink, wink) can gripe out the gripers.

It seems to be a universal irony that when people are free to do what they want they usually imitate one another.

It has not fizzled, but has spread to other places. The revival in millions of hearts is the greatest byproduct., and we should be praising God for that.

I am sure many were blessed. We are all subject to blessing when God’s people gather together, even if, perhaps, a charlatan is on the stage.

When you talk about the Lakeland “Revival” spreading to other places (like where, for example?) and others receiving the benefits of it are you subtracting from that number those who were disillusioned by the way it turned out (despite warnings from concerned people)? One young lady whose post I read, a Lakeland alumnus (or victim, depending on how you interpret it) said she would never be “taken in by another one of these so-called revivals” and, in fact, was considering dropping out of church altogether because her church was a defender of Bentley right up until the lid was taken off of his misconduct.

Or was she just collateral damage in our pursuit of the spectacular?

This revival was run on emotions and emotions are temporary.

There ya go, right there.

People of emotion want emotions, hence all the activity and actions that surrounded it. I often wondered why such a thing called a revival would sway such great crowds of Christians into supporting such endeavors, and I now feel it boils down to emotion.

It was absolutely not. When the Holy Spirit comes in like a mighty flood to and through a gathering, one of the first observable indications is an emotional response. It is an indicator, not the experience.

What happend to Todd Bentley? Last I heard, he was having marriage trouble?

His troops have closed ranks around him … or swept him under the rug. He proved an embarrassment to those who blindly stuck their necks out for him when more discerning people had his number.

I still pray for him. I hope his one-time supporters do too.

Simply put ... God was with me before Lakeland Florida and Todd Bentley

God was with me when I fell for the hype and God was with me when I heard him call me out of the false revival as aired on God TV on July 12th of course it helped when someone here on this forum prayed for me.

Hence I have learned my lesson, but I had to stumble first ... you should've seen the emotions when I found out I had been had

Sigh, let me explain.

People without hope, obviously, give them hope. Hope brings feelings, but if hope runs only on feelings it will die. Give feelings logic, so that it may further itself. Embedded in logic is truth, which begins to lead hope on further. Do not forget emotions, as logic without emotions is dry and doubt of the hope that was once found will form. Be sure the logic is founded upon truth because lies leading the train will crash it.

Logic and emotions go hand and hand, they are opposites, but they work together perfectly well. One extreme in either of the two bring dire consequences. We see more emotional disasters as we've become more of a logical society and see more of the emotional yahoos, but we must not forget the arrogant and blind pure logical. Reaching the emotional is easier than reaching those who are logical, which is why we see more of the emotional annoyances.

A balance of the two is extremely important.

I wasn't condemning you or the leader, I was simply concluding as to why, beyond the falsehood of the leader, it fell apart. God will use this and many other situations like this to His advantage to further bringing the Lost to Him.

I simply wonder what a true revival looks like, if it exists. Seems all of the ones in my lifetime are being led by false prophets, rather disheartening, but I don't need to see miracles to know that my God is capable and true. :)

What hope? Do you mean a brief feeling of optimism before Lakeland’s star attraction, the Hope Guy, was found wallowing with the pigs and returning to the vomit he said he had been delivered from?

Is that what you mean by hope?

And who says logic and emotions are contradictory terms? The term logic comes from the biblical word “logos” the very nature of Christ; emotion is a from the French, “esmovoir” to excite. One seems to have a biblical root, the latter a more superficial one.

You are right, though. A balance of the two is important.

I like to think I am logical but I know I am emotional. I can cry at the drop of a hat but I do not allow my emotions to control me or cloud my ability to reason, nor do I allow reason to rob me of feeling. Both, IMO, are a gift from God. He did not create us to think logically then tell us to kill it; nor did He create us with emotions and tell us not to feel anything. When we eradicate one for the other is when we get out of balance.
