Name: Zeve Beraht (Agent Lance)
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Description:: Zeve is about 5’ 11’’, powerful and tiger-like in his movements. Wavy blond hair and deep blue, almost purple, eyes would make him one for the ladies were it not for the coldness that ever hardens his face. In everyday life he tends to wear faded jeans, T-shirts with various things written across the front or back, and a pair of worn combat boots. On the job, his attire depends on the territory being covered, but usually is either camo or black to blend into the night.
Personality: Silent, calm, laid-back… these describe Zeve in a nutshell. He is always focused internally and intensely reflective. His emotions may run the gamut but are seldom expressed fully, if at all. Loud talkative people draw him easily, particularly if they accept his customary silence as natural.
Background: Zeve remembers his childhood as an idyllic time of his life, before brutal reality set in. He was raised in a loving foster home, by Michael and Jackie Beraht, with two older sisters, Lyrelle and Jenny. Always quiet and nonobtrusive, he did his chores without complaint, often taking on some of his sisters’ work if he felt like it. Video games were his passion, and he also trained with his father in the martial arts starting age four. He also loved to keep pets, and kept a growing collection of stray cats and dogs in the abandoned barn behind the Beraht home, finding whatever means he could to keep them fed and happy.
During his early schooling, he worked much as he did at home, earning good grades. He was the kind of kid girls had secret crushes on; few friends, a loner, happy to be alone.
When he was 15, he met his dearest friend, Lex Laban. At that time, the school the two boys attended housed a number of bullies, and it was during several fistfights that the two formed a bond of mutual support, then trust. In his time, Zeve also met his sweetheart, Darine Grey, who was to be his girlfriend for years afterward.
Later in their teens, Zeve and Lex found themselves caught in a situation involving the whole city, where gang activity rose to dangerous levels. It was at this point when the two parted ways. Zeve’s foster father was killed by gang members and Zeve was forced to join the gang to protect his family, whereas Lex disappeared from sight. They never saw each other again.
The memory of the next decade is a blur of bullets, blood, and death. Zeve fought his way to the top of the gang hierarchy using all the skills Michael Beraht and Lex Laban had helped him develop, eventually gaining enough support to launch a counterstrike on the Gang Lords. In the end the entire gang community fell in on itself, and Zeve was left alone to go his own way.
