  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Has anyone ever taken Zantac while breastfeeding??

I tried to call my pharmacy to ask but it was too late, they are already closed...I keep getting conflicted information from the internet...if Zantac isn't an option, do you have a suggestion besides Tums or any other nasty chewable acid reducer?

I'm very open to a natural approach, too.

TIA

I believe it's fine... I don't have my Medications and Mother's Milk by Hale here at the house to check though for sure.

A natural alternative would be Papaya Tablets. *I* find them to work better than Tums for sure. :)

Hmmm well Maya was actually prescribed zantac at one point.... so if babies can have it, I'd think they could have it through breastmilk... but I can check into it at my crunchy forum if you'd like ;)

that would be great, thanks!

Hey no worries, it's allergy medicine. Anything that goes into your body goes into that breast milk, well small portions of the Zantac goes through, but I think it is totally fine.
God bless.

Ok, I got my Hale's Medications and Mother's Milk back and looked it up. Zantac should be fine to take while breastfeeding. The only side effects reported were to the mother~ headache, GI distress, dizziness. No side effects were reported for the baby. It's an L2 class drug (with L1 being the safest, and L5 beng the drug is completely contraindicated (don't take at all)).
