Hi there guys... any song suggestions for worship during a youth group meeting on Sunday mornings. The kids are from 11 - 14, so we're looking for stuff thats fun to sing but not too childish but not too mature/deep if you get what I mean... what do you reckon would be suitable?

Some ideas are... We wanna see Jesus lifted high, Let Everything that Has Breath Praise the Lord (Matt Redman)....

thank you and God bless you all

first off I am a youth worship leader (18 yrs old). Let me say don't "dumb down" the songs you do, Junior Highers can handle deep stuff, as long as the music with it is good. I do A LOT of United (Hillsong Youth band) stuff. Let them go crazy for a a song or 2, its ok.

Ooooooh, dont get me wrong. I know Junir Highers can handle deep stuff as long as the music is good. And I know its ok to go crazy for a song or two.... and I have a list of songs.... just asking around what other songs would be good

Yeah I really wouldn't treat that category any different than you would treat older teens or young adults. My little brother is 12 and he loves David Crowder, Tim Hughes, Matt Redman, or Chris Tomlin. It's all good stuff. :)

Some of the songs our youth group really likes these songs:

Prince of Peace
You are Holy - PlanetShakers
Breathe
Jesus, Lover of My Soul
Shout to the Lord

Those are just a few -- but I get suggestions all the time from the youth group of songs to sing during worship. We don't have a separate youth service yet, but eventually - we'll be doing all the songs they love to sing.

One song that kids and teens love to get into is Romans 16:19. It's a good song, quoting a Bible verse, and it's loud and fun.

Romans sixteen nineteen says (repeat)

Be excellent at what is good
Be innocent of evil (repeat)

And the God of peace will soon crush Satan
Yes God will crush him underneath your feet! (here all the kids jump)

That's the idea of the song. . . .

I noticed that Trading my Sorrows was on someone elses list. Good choice. If you want to have fun with it, we throw in the chorus from Blur's song #2 (woohoo!) as a bridge between "I'm trading..."(verse) and "We say yes Lord..."(chorus)

Another good one is "Joy". I'm not sure who does it, but it begins "I love you Lord, I worship you, I love you Lord, Always..." and the chorus is "Let me be a shining light for you..."

So much good worship music out there, it's hard to keep a small song list. Have fun with any new stuff you'll be trying!

Hard to say depends on what type of christian music they are into a good idea is to give them all a half sheet of paper and ask them to write down 2-3 songs they like then you all can vote on those songs. That way you could be almost certain they are singing songs they like which means they will put their heart into it.
