no, As an agnostic theres always the chance that they wouldnt take kindly to that if they had just come from a bible class. If I was a christian I would probably feel safer since they had (hopefully, though you never know what they teach in those bible classes) been told to love everyone and all that. But no, as an agnostic, I would not feel safer.

Way to dodge the question. You would make a good (for lack of a better term) politician.

Thank you. You'll make an excellent voter some day.

Imagine you were forced to.

How am I supposed to know they came from a Bible study unless I already knew them in advance? In which case I wouldn't have any trepidation...unless they had been jerks to me before or something.

Alright so I'm walking in a rough part of town because some kidnappers stole my dog and are forcing me in order to get him back. Would I feel more comfortable if I knew the 10 men walking towards me just came from a bible study? No, there are a lot of hypocrites out there.

That really depends on what they were being taught in the Bible class--was tonight's lecture on the Beatitudes or Leviticus? In other words, are their heads full of "blessed are the meek," or "these are the people who deserve death by stoning"? Because that will significantly affect my answer.

And really, I'd be even more comfortable if I knew they'd just come out of a crocheting class, or from volunteering at the local senior center, or from a D&D game.

If you were walking down a dark street at night in the rough part of Chicago and you saw ten young men walking towards you, would you feel more comfortable if you knew that they had just come from a Bible class?

Ten men are still ten men...whether or not they came out of bible class or from a drinking binge I would treat them the same way at the same level of threat.

I've answered this kind of question before. Usually they are carrying bibles though. My feeling are that if the 10 men seemed to have a purpose for being there, whether it was coming from bible class with their bibles or coming from the grocery store with groceries, I would feel more comfortable than if they were just wandering around.
It's is a trick question if your purpose is to 'prove' that people feel better about about folks who read the bible or something. But you have to be able to think critically in order to understand that. Lot's of people can't.

I would actually feel safer, if they were cherrypicking the parts from the Bible, about being good people, and about turning the other cheek

They could have been doing things that would have made me feel safer, like attending some pacifist society meeting, or just having come from a charity

I voted 'yes' also, but not because they would be presumed 'Christian' or anything.

I'd pretty much feel safer if the people approaching me were coming from some kind of organized event rather than just out cruising the streets looking for something to do.

So... exactly why are 10 men from bible class walking down a dark street in a rough part of Chicago?

Not as much as if I knew they had just left a Star Trek convention.

I'd worry about my car -- it might have been keyed up by those guys if I had had a pro-atheism bumpersticker. If they were white and I was black, I might worry that they were KKK. If I were Muslim, I'd worry they would beat me up out of association with terrorism. If I were gay, I might worry that those Bible-bearing men were going to gay-bash me, so I don't see why one should be comforted. Christians are not immune to violence or mischief.
