  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Grab your Bible and turn to Genesis chapter 1 and follow along with these verses.

3Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 5God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.
6Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” 8And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.
9Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. 10And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good. 11Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so. 14Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 20Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.” 24Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so. 26Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

In these scriptures we see that in creating the universe, God spoke it into existence. When something is created/ built, it is spoken/ first spoken. God spoke things into existence.

Let’s take a look at John 1:14 then Colossians 1: 13-16.

14And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth

13He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. 15He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

In John 1:14, we see that Jesus is the Word. “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us...” This is obviously speaking of Jesus. Then in Col., in vs. 16,it says “For by Him all things were created...” this is also speaking of Jesus. Now if we put together the understanding of these two scriptures, we can see that Jesus is the Word and by Jesus or by the Word all things were created. Now since God used “the Word” to create the universe, and understand that the way words go forth, is by breath. Jesus “the Word”,
Did not go forth to or on this earth until the Holy Spirit “put” Him forth. First the Holy Spirit came upon Mary to impregnate her with Jesus. Then before Jesus went forth to fulfill that which He came forth to accomplish, the Holy Spirit came upon Him.
Isaiah 55:11
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it

A lot of times we just don’t think how powerful our words are. The thing we need to see and know is that the same breath (Holy Spirit) that God used to create the universe, is the same breath that he breathed into Adams nostrils.

Let’s take a look at John 6:63

63“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

Jesus said that His words are spirit, and they are life. What are your words?
The word spirit means,

Your words are spirit. They don’t only effect the physical realm, and go deeper than the
soul, words effect the spirit realm. To be born again takes believing in your heart and speaking with your mouth that Jesus is Lord (Rom. 10:9). When we speak, the spirit realm is being affected. Your words carry life and death (Prov. 18:21).

Your words are spirit.
where does it say "our" words are spirit?
To be born again takes believing in your heart and speaking with your mouth that Jesus is Lord (Rom. 10:9).
be careful to read in context...speaking w/ your mouth that Jesus is Lord does not save you. It's saying that those who are saved will not be ashamed. If that were true, those who were mute would be in trouble lol.

Dear heschngdus, I agree with jds1977.
Perhaps you did not mean quite what you wrote.
John was speaking in the context of Jesus dwelling in his heart and he was speaking the words the Lord gave him to speak (not his own words).
Much alike prophesying, one speaks but not your own words.

Ok, let's not get too hung up on heschngdus's words here. The point that he is making is that since God spoke (used the Word, which is Jesus) things into existence by the directing of the Holy Spirit, we, who have been given that same spirit, speak and our words affect not only the physical, but the spiritual as well. And then the quote from John 6:63, Jesus says that his words are spirit and they are life. He can say this because He was speaking by the direction of the Holy Spirit which was upon Him. He was speaking in the same way that the words were spoken back in Genesis which brought everything into existence. Since we are made in the image of God, our words too have the power of bringing life or death: life, if they are spoken by the spirit in us; or death, if they are spoken by the flesh (Prov. 18:21). Yes, so you can say that our words are spirit and life just as Jesus's words were, that is of course if they are directed by the spirit.
And stafy, I may be confused here, but were you thinking that those were John's words in John 6:63. They were Jesus's own words. I could have misunderstood what you said. Anyways, I fully agree with your incite heschngdus. Well put. This is one of the things that has inspired me lately. Indeed our words do have the power of life and death. I don't know if you thought about this yet, but it just occured to me after reading your post. It's interesting to me that the last part of Prov. 18:21 says, "And those who love it will eat of its fruit". And Jesus's words in John 6:63 comes just after He spoke about eating His flesh and drinking His blood, saying that those who do will have life. Both speak of what we eat. You could say that we actually "eat our own words" and they either produce life in us or death. Thoughts....

It is certain that the OP mean's when you speak God's Word.

John 6:61-63

61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?

62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?

63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
KJV

If we speak the same as God does in His Word (Genesis through Revelation), they are spirit and they are life.

There are some scriptures that do indicate how powerfull our words are.

Don't have a Bible handy, but one scripture comes to mind of when Jesus was saying..."...you shall SPEAK to this mountain, be thou removed..."

Rev. ? : ? "They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the WORD of their testimony".

Also, we are to pray to the Father, "in Jesus name". It's because of the covenant we have with Him, that we pray "IN HIS NAME"
"Whatsoever you ask, in my name..."

Words are powerfull indeed
