I don't find they look good on men or women. A small one on a woman's arm or leg really wouldn't bother me too much. Tattoo's or "body art" as they call it today has really taken off with the younger to middle age generations.

I never got one myself, and don't plan on getting one. My Dad got one on his arm as a teenager, and has regretted it ever since. Why? He got a tattoo of a woman named Lynn on his arm. My Mother's name is Donna.:D

I don't mind them on others, although I have to say some of the more evil looking ones are too much. I just don't ever want any myself. To be honest alot of people want to be different so they get tattoos, and those without tattoos are the ones in the minority!

People, mostly men getting tattoos has been going on for ages. My Dad's friend just passed away recently in his 90's. He was covered like a road map.I did get a glimpse one time, and they were doves, pics of women he'd known in his past and some other positive imagery. He had fought in WW2, and it was common for men to get them back then.

Today, it's the in thing for men and women to get. It's the in thing to do I suppose? These sleeves covering both genders arms looks somewhat unappealing to me. And I've seen some real demonic, satanic looking ones on people today. Not my cup of tea.

I totally agree Nord.

Thank you!;)

I think the the tattoos people are getting on themselves, express what
kind of path they're following.

When someone has a tattoo of a pentagram, demon or whatever, you
know they're not likely reading any Bible.

I cannot stand tattoos. It says in the OT that tattoos are prohibited. I don't agree with them. I really wish people would stop painting their bodies. When they get older and their skin loses its elasticity the tattoos look really bad. Oh well. Guess some people learn with experience.

The OT does not say that tattoos are prohibited. The verse that is always (mis)quoted is referring to pagan customs of cutting or marking one's body during rituals for the dead. The offense was in the worship of pagan gods and idols rather than the worship of God. The same passage (Lev 19:27) forbids the cutting of hair on the head or cutting beards. Do all of you who claim Lev 19:28 as forbidding tattoos, have hair and beards down to your ankles?? I didn't think so. You love to cherry pick little bits and pieces of the Old Law! Regardless, we are not under the Mosaic Law anymore, we are under the New Covenant of grace by the blood of Christ.

Did any of you know that some Hebrews used to mark themselves for God? Isaiah 44:5 Some will say, 'I belong to the LORD'; others will call themselves by the name of Jacob; still others will write on their hand, 'The LORD's,' and will take the name Israel.

And before you think that this refers to some temporary "writing" as with a pen and ink, something that would just be there for an hour and then rub or wash off, think again.

First century scholar Procopius observed firsthand that Christians were marking themselves: "Because many marked their wrists or their arms with the sign of the cross, or with the name of Christ."

And the JFB commentary on Isaiah 44:5 clarifies even further: "...alluding to the puncture with ink on the hand, whereby a soldier marked himself as bound to his commander; and whereby the Christians used to mark themselves with the name of Christ."

I think they are cool on other people, but would never get on myself.
I'm very afraid of needles.

I don't find some look bad on people. A small valentine shaped heart on a woman's arm or a Countries flag on either gender, really doesn't look all that bad. If of course it's left on someones arm, or unnoticeable part of a leg.

I'm not petrified of going to get my blood taken. But having several piercing needles jab me all at once?! No thank you!;)

I think some people go way overboard & they look ridiculous on some people (cubicle workers that have no .mil background & baristas)

I have a couple that don't show when I am dressed in professional (and 9/10ths of casual) attire and I don't buy the OT prohibitions, I just think they look silly on non-warrior caste/ non-sailor/ non-1% er or other real biker/ non-prostitutes. If a person doesn't fit into one of those categories, tattoos come off like the office workers that put on clean black leather on the weekends and trailer their Harleys to bike rallies. Leathers should be covered in dead bugs & dust, Rallies should be ridden to and tattoos should be earned not put on to create an "edgy wannabe hip" image.

I'm personally disgusted by them.

"Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord." ~ Leviticus 19:28

Do preachers shave?

The next verse says about not trimming the corners of one's beard.

I wonder if the context is Old Testament Jews in the land under the law.

If a New Testament believer under grace, living for the Gospel is motivated to get, e.g., John 3.16 or a Christian fish sign <><, on his or her arm, etc., then it's maybe an entirely different category and state of affairs.

Blessings.
