• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

  1. God is near to the poor in spirit: "The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." (Psalm 34:18)
  2. God will not despise the poor in spirit: "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise." (Psalm 51:17)
  3. God dwells with the poor in spirit: "For this is what the high and lofty One says- he who lives forever, whose name is holy: "I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite." (Isaiah 57:15)
  4. God esteems the poor in spirit: "This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word." (Isaiah 66:2)
1 Peter 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, 5who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Jesus loves you, he has forgiven all who are willing to follow Him and truly believe. Depression, pain, sadness, these are not sins. But sometimes in our depression and pain it is very easy to put our own problems as our focus and get distracted from our priority which is our relationship with the Lord and serving Him. Humility is the key. Surrendering and submitting to the Lord. It is a daily battle. The Lord shall forgive our misplaced hope and focus, and deliver us of our depression, and give us peace that passes understanding with a joy that can only be from God, despite our circumstances. He is our deliverer and healer.

:amen:!!! WONERFUL THREAD!!

yes. we are the children of a very passionate God. He has feelings....
'imperfect' is the way we are wired. to SHAPE us. not harm us. it's not at all sinful to be depressed... struggle with depression etc... it doesn't become a sin when we fail, or struggle... it's suppose to teach us direction. we just need to learn how to 'harness' it. = manage through it....
the big 'trick' to managing through things is to use your resources. this includes anything that teaches you to be healthy while practicing leaning on the will of God. prayer, doctor, bible, clergy, counselor, meds, family, friends, internet community, books, etc...
