  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Any of you have a place you always go .... because it's a fond memory?
Not because it's awesome... it is certainly NOT awesome. not anymore anyway.
But it is just a happy place for you for so many years, you don't care that it's falling apart and going to the dogs now?

Like maybe a hotel you always stay in every spring break or a restaurant you always go to when your friends come to town or a mini golf course that you always visit on the anniversary of your first date with your sweetheart... and it's just totally in shambles and tripadvisor hates it but you just don't care because it's been loved so much over the years?

The back lot of Treeland.

Oh wait that is under a supermarket.

My treehouse. Oh wait all the trees came down when they covered the drainage channel.

So my answer is no. I could think of a few more. But basically everything got built over long before it became a dump.

Ah.. I'm sorry to hear that.
It says you're 62? I bet alot has changed since you were 27 like me.
I am only 27 and I lived here in this town for 10 years.
In 10 short years, I've seen stuff I loved come and go.
I loved a grungy coffee house by my school that would have been worthy of this list. It was back in 2006 when wifi was more rare and usually came at a price and it had wifi for free.... it "died" when it went under new owners in 2007.
I loved a breakfast nook place that had gluten free toast. Went looking for it 2 months later... gone.
There was a great italian restaurant. closed. now it's Panera.
The mall I used to enjoy growing up in my hometown is now overrun with "ethnic club wear stores" and "no name fashions for $5"
ugh.

ugh.

I grew up in the West end of the San Fernando Valley, a suburb of Los Angeles.

The places I hiked as a child are under housing tracts. The city pretty much ended at the Motion Picture Hospital. It is still there, at least twice as big and not the end of anything. South of me in Orange county there used to be a place called Lion Country Safari. Near where the 5 and 405 meet. And it was well named, lions running loose. It was pretty much surrounded by strawberry fields and other agriculture. It is now homes, businesses and shopping centers for 20 miles in every direction

Decent (or perhaps any) dives are a product of an area that is shrinking, or at the most stable. Here people keep coming.
