I think nothing demonstrates a spiritual battle better than peoples' unability to understand the meaning of these four characters, believers and unbelievers alike. They will go to whatever length, just to Blapsheme.
Matthew 24:5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am Christ,’ and will deceive many.
If they come in the Lord's name, then what is the implication of claiming 'I am Christ'?
Christ-christos means anointed one. Therefore, they are claiming "I am Anointed". Beware of those who make this claim. The Anointing is found in the fellowship of Saints by the Holy Spirit, not an individual. John is addressing the Ecclesia, not individuals when he states:
1 John 2:26 These things I have written to you concerning those who
try to deceive you.
27 But the Anointing (chrisma) which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same Anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.
When the Ecclesia has been broken down unto essentially "not one stone left upon another",
then the chrisma will no longer function but will be taken out of the way.
2 Thessalonians 2:6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time.
7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains
will do so until He is taken out of the way.
