The beast is noted in Revelation and in OT prophecy about Revelation.

Revelation does not…. and cannot stage itself until the body of Christ is gone….it has nothing to do with the church of God.

In Revelation 19:20, the beast and the false prophet will be cast alive into the lake of fire. To happen at Jesus's Return.

Titus died at the age of 41, of a fever related illness. He was not the beast.

The person who becomes the beast is end times, and that person has not reached that stage yet. Jesus, in Matthew 24, in the parable of the fig generation, says that parable of the fig tree generation will see His Return. Since the beast will be cast alive at Jesus Return, and that Jesus has not Returned yet, Titus was not the beast.

The Sea Beast of Revelation 13 (with its combination of lion, bear, and leopard features) had existed for 666 YEARS up until the time John was writing Revelation in AD 59 / 60. That Sea Beast first came into existence under Nebuchadnezzar when he deported Daniel and others in 607 BC. All those various world empires (Babylonian, Medo-Persian, Greek, and Roman) demanded homage in some way from Daniel's people. Those who did not comply were faithful to God in spite of these demands.

The Land Beast of Revelation 13 with its two-horned power structure was the Pharisee / Sadducee religious leadership of Israel, which demanded that its own people give homage to the Roman phase of the Sea Beast. They began doing this from 19 BC until AD 66 with the required "mark" that gave homage to that Sea Beast. This "mark" was the abominable Tyrian shekel which the high priesthood started minting in Jerusalem, and required as the only acceptable coin for temple buying and selling of sacrificial items. Anyone from any nation coming to worship in Jerusalem's temple had to exchange their own currency for this abominable Tyrian shekel - for a fee which was collected by the money-changers. Jesus showed His disgust for this corrupt practice by overturning their tables and driving the moneychangers from the temple. Quite rightly, they were making the temple a "den of thieves" by charging a fee for using a Tyrian shekel coin that was abominable to God anyway.

That profane "mark" of the Tyrian shekel had Rome's demi-god Herakles / Hercules stamped on the front, with the words "Tyre the holy and city of refuge" (the home turf of the wicked Queen Jezebel who killed the prophets). The Roman eagle was stamped on the reverse side, with the initials "KP" standing for "kratos Romaion" or "power of the Romans". This was clearly breaking a rule set down by God in the Old Testament times to guard against idolatry (Deuteronomy 7:25-26), yet the greedy high priesthood had ignored this rule in favor of the profits they could get from the Tyrian shekel's lucrative exchange fees.

Once the Zealot rebellion overthrew the Roman governance in AD 66, they began minting their own currency, and this "mark" giving homage to the Roman phase of the Sea Beast was abandoned. Nobody today is going to get this "mark" of the Sea Beast in their right hand or forehead, since neither the Land Beast nor the Sea Beast has been in existence for almost a couple millennia by now.

(20) And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Did this take place in the first century?

Incorrect. It is not "fig tree generation". Rather Jesus was pointing to the actual fig tree and all other trees that were standing around him and his hearers as an example. If they see the leaves set forth leaves, they will mentally know that summer is near. So likewise, when we see all things Christ will take place in the time of the end, we will mentally know that his coming is near. That is it.

The generation Christ spoke about here is the evil generation, a spiritual family of Satan, that span from Cain to today, which the first-century people were only part of. Not about someone who lives 40, 50, 70 years, post-1948 Israel, will see prophecies being fulfilled with national Israel in the Middle East. Sorry.

Yes, it did take place in the first century.

Emphasis on the "alive" part... this indicates that we are not talking about the afterlife for these two Beasts. The "Lake of Fire" was defined as the "second death". That was the "second death" which the city of Jerusalem experienced, comparable to its first death under the Babylonian invasion by Nebuchadnezzar back in 586 BC. For that first death, the prophet Isaiah said that death and hell (the grave) would overcome those rulers of Jerusalem in those days (Isaiah 27:18). Once again for the second time, death and hell (the grave) also came to the city of Jerusalem in the AD 66-70 period and overcame its leaders. This time the city would be cast down, never to rise again with any spiritual significance in God's eyes.

Emphasis also on the beast and the "kings of the earth" (which "kings" were the high priests of Israel), with their armies being gathered together against Christ and His armies...this particular beast is NOT THE SEA BEAST, but the 3rd, different SCARLET BEAST of Revelation 17 found in the wilderness setting - not the "Sea". The Scarlet Beast of Revelation 17 was the independent kingdom nation of Israel which had been revived under the Zealot rebellion. It was "about to arise" (in AD 66) soon after in John's days. This Scarlet Beast and the Land Beast of Israel's religious leadership were both concentrated in the city of Jerusalem for the duration of the war from AD 66-70, at which time they were both destroyed. God used "His armies", which included the armies of the Roman Sea Beast, to finish off both the Scarlet Beast and the Land Beast by the close of the AD 70 conflict.

The "Lake of Fire" burning with brimstone was the "furnace of fire" in Matthew 13:42, which God would use to destroy the wicked. From old time, the prophet Isaiah 30:9 said of God that "His FURNACE is in JERUSALEM, and His "FIRE IS IN ZION". God used that location of the city of Jerusalem and literally turned it into those lake-of-fire conditions to destroy the Scarlet Beast entity as well as the Land Beast religious leadership along with their temple.

Sorry if I somehow have missed this, however, still.. this is NOT how God wanted us to count the number this way. God warned that his call for wisdom is to evaluate His Word in comparison to itself to find God's own interpretation! It means, we need to read His Word, in the light of His Word. The Bible then becomes its own interpreter and even dictionary. Not our private interpretation of a historic coin with some famous name so we can add numbers to it. Absurd! It is IMPORTANT that we allow the book of Revelation to interpret its own symbols through repetition and shed light itself through parallel usage.

When we study Scripture nobly, contrite of spirit, and with an honest view of ourselves (as the Bereans Acts 11:17), we will begin to surrender to the authority of the Word itself, rejecting wild personal opinions. When we consider how the author (God Himself) used the Words elsewhere in Scripture, we can begin to discern that it can only be God who defines His own terms. The Scriptures are not subject to our private interpretations or personal calculations. It is only at the point of realizing this that we will begin to understand that this beast and his number cannot be understood by human formulas, numeric equivalents, or by overactive imaginations foreseeing a coming super devil-man. Wisdom and understanding will come by the Spirit of Christ through a sound and ordered exegesis of God's Word itself. The answers are not found in intricately woven tales of a Satanic seed, world politics, national geography, world economics, mathematical guesswork, or unbiblical Bible codes. Selah!

The "six hundred and sixty-six" question can only be answered from within the pages of the Scripture itself. The only place we can find it, not in your imagination with Titus! If we are going to be faithful to God wherein we do not lean towards our own personal understanding of the matter, then we will have to get an understanding of the imagery of Revelation from the Word of His prophecy. When we trust in the written Word, comparing Scripture with Scripture, then we are on the only path that will bring us to God's truth, rather than our own supposition of it.

I'm fine with you believing that the mark of the beast already exists and people already have it. But when all the nations are in a one world government which does away with the current economic systems in place and institutes it's own digital currency (which will automatically convert any money we have in the bank) and institutes a mark in order to buy and sell, are you going to take that mark since you believe that won't be the mark of the beast?

Just curious and hope you answer.

Mark of beast is to be deceived by antichrist lies and deception, revelation chapter 13. Read Ezekiel chapter 9, six angels with slaughter weapon. These people are marked for spirtual destruction, they have mark of beast. The man with ink horn, put seal of God on those who wont worship antichrist. Documentation, revelation chapter 7 and Ezekiel chapter 9. Read revelation about 13, those who names are not written in lambs book of life, will worship antichrist. See the connection with Ezekiel chapter 9, the 6 angels with slaughter weapon. They're already marked for spirtual destruction. I documented this.
