if you would wait for sunset to arrive before doing your dishes on Sabbath evening.
Around here doing dishes was completely acceptable (even by hand), but to let a machine do the laundry was certainly not acceptable! Such inconsistent standards...
My wife and I did the watch thing when we were engaged in 2000-2001.
We also opted not to do wedding rings (decided to err on the safe side back then). We've long since let go of the later restriction, but have never gotten around to actually buying them.
This one actually isn't unique to Adventism, especially the observation that the Bible is just too hard to understand.. . . You feel that the Bible is a bit too hard for the lay person to understand without some help and you prefer the King James Version but you're really not sure why.

You've encountered at least one person that was very concerned about Jesuit infiltrators in their local church.
. . . You have a Harry Anderson painting on your wall.

BFA!!!! Sorry for resuurecting this old thread, and sorry I missed it! ALL TOO TRUE!!
YUCK! top the stipples and the repeating burnt tire! LOL!!!
I mourn Ingathering(The King's Herolds) and Postum!
I fondly remember Uncle Dan, Aunt Sue, and Uncle Arthur!
NEVER, EVER, got the wedding "watch" thing as it could have as many diamonds and jewels as you wanted! LOL!!
LOL!!!! and SMH to all the rest! Thanks for the memories BFA!
Ok, but on a serious note, about the alcohol. Some folks are "simoplifying" the baptismal vows, and I dont' believe that alcohol is mentioned or abstaining from it is mentioned in some parts of Europe or some other countries. Kind of like the wedding band thing, they enforced it where they could, and it wasn't an issue where they could not.
I really do have fond memories too. It's always fun to see that most of us who post here have some shared experiences, even if we disagree on points of doctrine. The culture of SDAism is the shared experience to which most of us can relate. And I can look back on so much of it with happy nostalgia.

As I think back, I think it was pretty bold to go door to door and ask for money from strangers for our church, (Ingathering). If I remember right, I was one of the more successful beggars at one time in my local church. I'm now chagrined by this.
This list does bring back some good memories, however. Thanks!
I always hated ingathering. Now I think it's rude to go door to door asking for money for a church from people who don't go to that church. If it were for some sort of non-denominational cause, I think that would be better. Some of our churches used to combine Christmas caroling and ingathering. The caroling was fun, but I would have preferred to skip the ingathering part. I used to enjoy the hot chocolate afterward, though.
