You guys scare me!

You guys are so scary to me. i hang out here alot just to read what is going on. the reason you scare me is that i usually agree and feel more at home here than in the Christian forum side. I am confused right now.

I read over some of your posts in the bios/introductions area. alot of what was said is how i feel. the more i study the OT, the more i feel out of place in my church affiliation (southern baptist). i love the OT and study it every day. it is such a wonderful feeling to get to know God in this way! What a powerful and Holy God He is!


I do have a few questions, if someone could help me out. I claim ignorance in these things:

1. As a Messianic, what is your day-to-day life like?

2. If the Temple was still here, wouldnt the blood of Jesus make it not necessary?

3. Do Messianics follow all of the NT also?

4. What bible version to you use? Is an New American Standard seen as accurate?

1. As a Messianic, what is your day-to-day life like? Well aside from the mundane things like waking, work, lunch, work, and mowing the lawn there are some. As messianics there is a diversity in the movement as there is in Protestants. Some of us are more Torah observant that others. If there is a experiental difference. It is that the Tenach (O.T.) is alive and functioning in the life of Messianics not just the Brit Chadasha (N.T.).

2. If the Temple was still here, wouldnt the blood of Jesus make it not necessary? No, in the future the Temple will be rebuilt and sacrifices are again going to be offered. So the common misconception is that sacrifices can have only one purpose. If the Temple were here some of us would sacrifice not as Messiah's atonement but for the purpose of obedience (not justification).

3. Do Messianics follow all of the NT also? Yes It is the account of the fulfillment of the prophecies of Messiah as given as part of Judaism.

4. What bible version to you use? Is an New American Standard seen as accurate? I have a 'Bible' in Hebrew. Then NASB is fairly accurate, but the issue is the context of the passages. If you read a passage from a pagan point of view your context will override it.

Full of mitzvot and becuase of which, happiness and a closeness to G-d

No not at all, Ezekial spends 9 full chapters explaining the third temple and the reinstation of sacrifices. Needless to say they wont be for salvation.

4. What bible version to you use? Is an New American Standard seen as accurate?

I usually use the Stone edition Tanach by Artscroll or the Judaica Press Tanach. But a good christian translation I would recommend is the NRSV the New Revised Standard Version
