• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

As we face trial after trial, there will be times when hope seems gone, you feel like giving up, and you believe you can't endure any more suffering. During these times, focus upon the promises of God, and true stories like David and Goliath.

1 Corinthians 10:13 says "The temptations in your life are no different than what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure". This means God is in control of everything in life we face, and He will never give us a trial we cannot handle through Him. So why does God allow us to experience life troubles.

"Trials test faith and build endurance, and fully developed perseverance makes us both mature and complete, lacking nothing" (see James 1:2-4). Once this happens, us diamonds in the rough can become hope diamonds which shine God's light to those sinking ships lost at sea - aka, people struggling with life. In the meantime, in our times of need, God promises us, to never fail nor abandon us (Deut. 31:6,9), and that He will cause everything we face work together for our good . . (Romans 8:28)". "And this same God who cares for you will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus." "Nothing can ever separate the love of The Shepherd to His sheep, taking care of us, giving us everything we need." (see Romans 8:38-41, Psalms 23:1).

"God will never leave us alone with our problems. He may seem asleep, but in actuality, He still sees us, waiting the scream out "Peace Be Still" at the right moment. Defeating giants demand great faith to trust in Christ when facing the enemy; for that to happen, we must first condition ourselves to remain calm and confident (in God) in the face of danger. We need courage and perseverance to confront life uncertainties and threats of misfortune; that's why God makes us believe He is gone, to force us to face trouble, mixed in with uncertainty.

God is the Father that stands a few apart from His child, forcing us to learn how to walk. When we are about to fall, He rescues us at the right moment, and the process begin again and again until we pass the test. The same principle is also true for us as we face increasingly more difficult life trials.

In Samuel 17, a nation of Israelites finally experienced freedom from the Philistines, all because of the courage and faith of an ordinary shepherd (David) who defeated his giant trial, Goliath. If David, in his earlier days, didn't passed God's tests of "lions and bears", David's purpose would never come true. If this shepherd boy had listened to doubt: "There's no way you can fight this Philistine and possibly win! You're only a boy, and he's been a man of war since his youth" (words of Saul, verse 33), will men and women of Israel be free today? Only God knows.

God has a life purpose for you - achieving it may require overcoming some "giant-sized adversities". Although the magnitude of our purposes may not be as "giant-sized" as David's, it is still the same. People around you may be seeing your "struggles with your personal giants"; it may give them hope toward defeating theirs, or you may be actually directly freeing them from their troubles. In either case, the world around you may be affected by your hope, courage, and faith. You affect your own life, either great or small, in sphere. Freedom can be achieved when people overcome their personal strongholds. "

"With man, this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible". Matthew 19:26.
