1. All hat—no cattle. That simply means the guy is making himself out to be more important than he really is. Oh, he might talk a good game but you really know that it’s all talk and no action. This goes along with the saying, "You can put socks in an oven, but they still ain’t biscuits." In other words, don’t try to be something you ain’t!
   [*]If you find yourself in a hole, stop diggin’. This has to do with planning and organizing. Lots of times we fly off the handle and get busy, yet we fail to realize we aren’t getting anywhere. Stop and check your behavior against your goals.
   [*]If you’re riding ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and again to make sure it’s still there. What a great management principle! If you are a leader, you’d better check in with the followers. You need to know they are behind you, they are following you, not just moving in the same direction.
   [*]If you think you’re a person of influence, try ordering someone else’s dog around! This one will keep us humble. It is a great reminder not to put too much importance on ourselves and/or our position in life.
