Yonah, first I want to say thanks:) I am loving that I can finally start to learn hebrew!

I have a few questions already. I am a diligent learning and love to learn things in fine detail and know I am doing it correctly.

Ok first, do you mind if i refer to you as Rabbi? or would you prefer Yonah? or Sir? or Dr.? ect...

ok heres a few questions I have already

It says that chet sounds like the ch in bach, but then also the kaf without the dot also sounds like the ch in bach. what would be the differance if I spelled a word with chet and a word using the kaf?

i am on the very first part of the course, so sry if you explained it later on in lesson one.

thank you!

G-d Bless

P.S. is the Hebrew spelling under my name above correct? I used a translater, but wanted to see if it did it correctly. If so can ya read what it says?

Also Yonah, whats a good place to get something so I can type Hebrew on my computer?

In he lesson 1 on the hebrew alphabet, when you have the hebrew written on it, am i reading right to left or left to right?

for example, under Final Forms where you mention that a letter has a differant writing when coming at the end of a word, is it left to right or right to left? which one comes at the end?

thanks!

Hey, Sword.

No, I'm not a rabbi. I'm just a guy. Call me Yonah or Yoni or something friendly. I don't have any titles (except B.A., but what's that?!), so let's keep it informal. :)

As regards ח and כ, these are different letters and will appear in different words. For example, מֶלֶךְ ("king") uses kaf and מֶלַח ("salt") uses chet. I'll correct anyone who confuses these two letters (or the others that are similar in sound).

It's like "s" and "c" in English. Why do we have both "cell" and "sell," and what's the difference in their meanings?
We also have "s" and "z" that often make the same sound. "Goes" sounds like it ends with a "z."

With time it will be clear.

Yonah
