  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I assume you're referring to yin and yang in terms of good and evil?

If so, the answer is neither a complete yes or no. God has always existed, but Satan had a beginning. Satan was not a necessity for God.

However, I do believe that God made this world the way it is for a reason. Nothing escapes God's sight, and the Bible says that God makes good out of evil. So then, evil serves as a benefit to the elect, like a fire which purifies gold.

There will be a time when evil and good will be separated forever, with the divide of Heaven and Hell. At that time, evil will have served its purpose and will no longer be needed. In Heaven, there is only good, no evil.

Yin and Yang in Taoism doesn't refer to good and evil. It refers to a complementary opposites, such as male and female.

Yin and yang - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There is a perception (especially in the West) that yin and yang correspond to evil and good. However, Taoist philosophy generally discounts good/bad distinctions and other dichotomous moral judgments, in preference to the idea of balance.

I know. I was just looking at that page before you brought it up. Good and evil as "complementary opposites" is one possible interpretation of yin and yang, and I assume this is the one the OP is referring to. It's the only interpretation I can think of that fits in this context.

Good and evil are definitely not complementary opposites. Anyway, I don't think that the Bible really talks about complementary opposites in any significant way.

Yin-Yang is a symbol. Good and and Evil is one thing it represents. There are many many others (for example, medicine, thermodynamics, geography etc.). It talks about the beginning, the operation, and the end of nature and life. So, it MUST have teachings that overlap Christianity. I take it as an elaboration and illustration of Christianity.
