• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The Discussion of Homosexuality subforum of the other Ethics forum (the one that recently kicked out anyone without a Christian icon) has now been closed without prior warning.

Discuss.

Forum Closure
We are closing DOH effective immediately as it can be talked about in CP&E or in the Society Category in the Ethics and Morality forum.

Thanks,

A minor correction: It would seem from AV's announcement that (for the time being) that discussion of homosexuality can now be discussed on the main ethics forum.

This is despite the fact that homosexuality and abortion were given their own subfora specifically because threads on those two subjects tended to drown out other subjects. One must wonder if the object is to again overwhelm the other ethical issues, either to discourage discussions of those issues or to have an excuse ready made to ban discussions of homosexuality altogether. Only time will tell, I suppose.

This doesn't mean that there will be less discussion of these topics - it just means that it will probably be a bit harder to find discussion of other E&M topics amid the sea of abortion and homosexuality threads. The homosexuality and abortion sub-forums were huge because they are probably the two most hotly debated topics on CF.

This change has both good and bad consequences. Personally, I think the good outweigh the bad.

Why doesn't this surprise me???
Yet another closure and the stifling of debate and if you ask too many questions you could be banned.

CF where 2 or 3 are gathered will not be far away.

Nothing personal, actually this is a general question to all but your post reflects a little of what I will talk about here.

A simple question with no hidden agenda to anyone who would like to share follows. If the owner and/or managers of CF decide that they want to revise the forum in any manner they deem appropriate, what's the problem? This is not our forum even if we have contributed to not having ads. Naturally, it is ours in as much as we can participate if we choose after joining and if we abide by the rules. But (and I guess this is a second question), since when do members of a privately owned forum have a right to run the forum (any forum) the way they want to and dictate to the administrators and powers that be how it should be run and (I guess this is a third question) when will the endless griping about the state of the forum stop?
