Personally I think the changes Erwin has made are fantastic.
This quote by Adiya is brilliant:

6. Won't you please consider staying on foru.ms to be a vessel, used by the Holy Spirit, and your Savior, to minister to the needs of the lost, the hurting, the friendless, the broken, the needy, and even to those who are doing "just fine" (in their opinion) without Him?
I know that people are protesting against this decision, but really, how are Christians to "shine their light" unless they are facing the true test of showing love and tolerance to those "lost" in their opinion?

But then, I can also understand that this change would be frustrating for those who have been supporting a fully Christian site.

What are everyone's thoughts about the changes?

Also, can we still call it CF or do we have to call it FM now?? LOL!! ;)

The changes are just a watering down effort.
Showing love and "tolerance" ,as you say is something we Christians have done for centuries (yes with exceptions I know). It is the REST OF THE WORLD that has been INTOLERANT to us.
WE reach out show compassion, soothe the tired and the broken etc, yet the world continues to slam us.

Truth is you guys can't manage to moderate this place because you are so afraid to offend anyone. Sheesh.

So your answer is to water down the faith to prove to the world how wonderful we are. Well my friend watering down the faith so The World won't be offended only creates confusion, distrust and disrespect.

There are a few good threads to salvage from CF but this new gig has turned into another cacaphony of dark voices looking for a place to slam Christians.

Thank The Lord I had a problem getting you my CF SUpporter payment ! That would've been a huge waste of money.

Thanks for the thoughts, Jane.
I'm not sure if you were aiming the above at me (it's hard to tell on forums! :p ) but in case you were, you should probably know I'm not a mod. LOL! :p

I personally don't think the rest of the world is intolerant to Christianity at all.
In my opinion, it is Christianity who is intolerant to other religions.

But that's another discussion. ;)

I do the best to go with
The flow and that whatever the mods
Say go and rules.
Fine by me!

Amen, dear sister JPPT1974. I am "going with the flow" as well.

By His mercy and grace, I am madly in love with our dear Lord Jesus, and my one desire is to simply "follow the Lamb wherever He may go". There is so much love outpoured upon Him in the Deeper Fellowship threads, and I do feel that these love offerings are very precious to Him. For me right now, my one burden is to continue to love Him with all the other dear ones here. I have no peace about packing up and going elsewhere.

Dear Steph - I am so glad to see you posting again! Greetings in Christ, dear one!

At first I didn't like it but now I do. There are still christian threads on here where we can discuss christian issues and it is also open to others. What right did we ave previously to exclude non christians from this site? Is it not our calling to spread the news of Jesus Christ? How can we do that if we are holed up in our little communities? It suddenly becomes exclusive and Jesus was not an exclusive person!! I feel sincerely sorry for Erwin and all the backlash he has received over the new changes. I feel all the anger flowing on this website since the changes is muchly uncalled for. Erwin did a good job!!

I have mixed emotions but this is all still new to us and I think we will know more when things settle down a bit.

No need to leave though. What would be the point of that? Love is needed EVERYWHERE, there are no exceptions. I do prefer the title "ChristianForums" better but just because you take out the "Christian" part doesn't mean we got rid of God. God is everywhere:amen:

Erwin would never do anything that deviate from the vision of outreach. He, more than anyone else, cares for God's mission. uh, speaking from past impression here.

so even though I got a shock at the change, after giving it much thoughts I could "kind of" see where this is heading. Now if I'm a non-christian, looking for a place to chill and am curious or hold no adversity towards Christians in general, I'd be quite interested in how this site differs from other secular sites. A site that looks like a mixture of christian and non-christian features, so is it christian or not?

I seriously can't say whether the change is good or bad, only the future can tell. Obvious concerns include the creation of 'niche' groups and how Christian principles can be upheld if most of the staffs are non-christians.
Essentially though, Erwin's idea won't work if the number of Christian members falls below 50%. His line of thinking is a bold one that rests a lot on having Christians here to mingle with non-christians and be the "light".

but what does the majority of Christians see?

That is a fantastic message - the real message of Jesus - and I wish more people would hold on to this truth instead of fighting and bickering over doctrine and Hell and all the rest... :sigh:

BlessedOne, good post. I agree with Erwin's vision. The only thing was that the changes were so sudden that it shocked everyone a bit I think. ^_^ And we all know that most people do not cope well with huge change... even on a forum. ;)

Amy, I really like the new graphics too. I love how there is a different logo on each page. ^_^

If the rest of the world is intollerant to Christianity, it's because of the people who flip out over something as mediocre and insignificant as the owner of a forum changing its name. I think the changes are great. Especially if it creates a bit of "population control."
