Y'all is legitimate english because English no longer has a plural "you". (or rather, plural "you" looks exactly like singular "you".) Therefore, we southerners rose to the occassion, and rightfully invented the noble word "y'all".

I think y'all is the best word ever used.

You can address every at once by only using one word to do it.

"You all" is just to long and drawn out. Y’all is much better.

"Youse guys" is also long and complicated. Y'all is much better.

In addition to the excellent commentary by Shelb5, I'd point out that "you all" and "you guys" is improper English. "You" must only be used, and if there is more than one person, you're out of luck! But the lawful addition of the word "y'all" makes things easier, and proves the genius of the South!
