Yakini

The names of the characters in Yakini were especially chosen (they are actual African names) because of the meaning behind them.
Yakini: Truth
Gamba: Warrior
Throughout this story, I wanted to portray the message of the World. Ultimately, everyone is searching for something. Yakini was searching for truth. Gamba is the Word of God, and throughout the story, I have him (figuratively) speaking to Yakini and trying to encourage her with the Word. Yakini is generally unresponsive to it until towards the end when all hope is lost, and Jesus reveals Himself to her.
I believe that for some, Jesus does reveal Himself in this way I have portrayed. This is not always the case but I needed it in this form so it can be understood better, and so that it truly portrays the constant battle Yakini, and all of us, must face and the decisions we must make between good and evil. She made the distinction early on, that there was this battle but she did not understand it. Only when she sought forgiveness, could she overcome the evil. And so this is the story.
