Just bought an xbox this morning (finally), and naturally bought halo 2 but what i really want is a good quality driving simulator. Ie. none of this kudos nonsense found in project gotham 2 etc and not too 'arcadey'. Any thoughts? Thanks

TOCA: Race Driver 2

It's only 29$ or cheaper, and it is hands down the best sim racer on any console.
Yes it's even better than GT series.
We even did a side by side test, and it smoked GT3 out of the water.

You can play it online with up to 12 racers!!!!
It's the same tracks and most of GT's cars but with better graphics and more racers.

Forza will be awesome, you should really check that game out, it and GT4 are gonna have one heck of a competetion going on....Forza was started in 2001 or 2002 and the graphics are awesome as well as physics and everything, and it's not even done, will be by april or so....it's got pretty much GT4 but I think the customizing will be a bit different, and also allows engine swaps......the parts are real parts for each car on forza also, so you won't just have a "engine upgrade" you'll be selecting parts that really do fit in real life to each vehicle....meaning you can't buy a body kit for a Mustang that would never fit a Camaro, and also EVERYTHING will affect performance....the thing wear the xboxs specs come in is now....because other games on PS2 are unable to compute the information needed and also race at the same time, sooo (i could get into that but i won't) and also there is a new AI in forza NEVER EVER seen before, it is literally as close as it comes to human intelligence with driving, the computer actually will learn ur habits, when you tend to put on break, when you like to be pushing the accelerator, everything very nit picky...just check out sites out there tons of them on forza....but underground is a good racing game, just it's still too arcady, and yes ToCA is good, but there are others too if you look real hard.......and forza will be online

id say TOCA race driver 2 would be your best bet, the physics and AI are very good.

forza wont be out until April (if not later). im still not convinced of forza yet.. i still think that the car models look too cartoonish... (similar to sega GT 2002)

and sunstone you cant really compare GT3 and TOCA RD2... gt3 is alot older. and yes GT4 is an awesome game, but i was a little dissapointed when i heard that the AI still isnt that tough to beat.. and no online is dissapointing but still not an overly important feature.. one feature that gt4 left out which in my opinion is very important to the lengetivity of the game is the 2player memory card battles. you can no longer race your customised car against your mates... you can only race stock cars..

I think forza will be the one to beat. Microsoft has been pulling out all the stops on releasing top notch titles. They are not going to release forza until it is perfect. I am sure that GT4 will tap the PS2 for all its worth, but the same for forza, so GT series is done until PS3.

What I think was the most inovative feature in a car sim was in the Dreamcast's Sega GT. There was a Carzzarea or something, where you can create your own car. A revised mode like that would be amazing! Microsoft, add that in!!!

oh yeah, I'm not sure if it's on Xbox, I've only seen the game box for GC, but I'm sure it's on PS2 and Xbox, it's Auto Modellista or something like that, the cars are yes, cartoonish, but you do design ur own cars from nothing, basically you color, design, and own this car company or something like that, and then race against other companies cars, if you don't mind cel-shading (cartoon graphics) then it's a pretty game with fair AI, and good controls.....

What can't you compare games because of age difference?

And online matters alot, because if you don't have it, then you are basicly playing the same game. The GT series really hasn't changed much of anything, except better graphics, and more refined game play.
No online was a major let down on this game.

i agree that no online is a major letdown, but i still say its not important for the overall enjoyment of the game. and technically you can play GT4 online via some program (i cant remember what its called)..
