Xanthan was raised by his mother, an elf by the name of Eliandre Elimne, after his father died of his mortality. He and his mother lived together for a decade or so before she was killed in by an orcish raid on his village. He escaped because of his speed. He outdistanced the orcs as he sprinted across the rolling plains of the countryside. The orcs persued him for several miles, until they became too exhausted to run. Xanthan continued to run, running away from the hurt, the pain, the grief that lay behind in his sacked village. He ran until he collapsed on the top of a hill, where he was found soon after by a monk of the local monastery. This monk, a human called Braum Withentall, carried Xanthan to the Abbot, who inturn brought him to the infirmary. He was nursed back to health by the clerics and their healing powers until he regained consciousness. Upon seeing the kindness of the monks, and driven by an inner rage to kill the orcs that slaughtered his village and his mother, he took up training in the monastery. Upon reaching the age of 23, and the end of his training, Xanthan left the saftey of the religious sanctum, and walked out into the world to right wrongs and kill some orcs.
