I looked back 14 pages and didn't see an X-Files thread :(
I found multiple CSI, Stargate, Lost & other threads but no X-Files.
So, does anyone watch it at all?
I'd seen probably 97.5% of all the shows during the series - many more than once. Now my wife just bought the whole 9 seasons collectors edition so we're watching them. Now we can finally defeat those "To be continued..." episodes that always left you hanging when it was on TV.
Any X-Files fans?
How about any X-Files Experiences?

Some of them are creepy especially when they get really graphic with corpses that are burned, mutilated or mutated. I like the alien ones best.

I once saw the Great Mutato in a dream. He didn't scare me even though he was a grossly disfigured person.

Only one that really scared me was one I still never completely watched where people were spontaneously burning. It was 11:00 at night and I was alone when it came on and when they showed the burned corpse I turned it off. I'll have to find it in our collection and watch it!

Some are really funny like the vampire one or the one with the 2 girls who get all these powers due to some planets aligning.

Oh my gosh...the X-Files. I remember a few years ago I would watch the X-Files every single night next door at my cousin's house. It was great. Now it like never comes on...:( I absolutely love this show. It was always so neat. I really miss watching it.

I think I actually went through withdrawl when the X Files ended. ;) I loved the show, it easlily could go from dark and disturbing to being hysterical. I think the show the scared me the most was the one with the mom that didn't have any arms or legs and lived under the bed, and was inbreeding with her sons. Yuck that was one creepy episode.
I don't know that I could pick a favorite episode because I loved so many of them!!:D

Ok, there was one episode that absolutely loved...I don't know the name of it, though. All I remember is, it takes place at night, it's raining really hard, and there's like this evactuated building that Mulder and Scully are in. Well, there are several other people in it also. Anyway, I think the building is supposed to be near the ocean...well, there's like this sea creature of some kind that gets into the pipes of this building....ok, it was quite a while back when I saw it. I just loved it, it was so cool.

I remember that one. I don't know what it is called either, but if it is the one I am thinking about there is a girl who is pregnat and Scully has to deliver the baby, and she is wearing someone's glasses and a bandana. I think the thing in the pipes is kinda like a translucent octopuss or something. :) :)

Funny, I was just telling my wife last night that was the nastiest one. I don't know about scary, but it sure was nasty all the way around.
We watched the Great Mutato last night. We like that one. The name of the show is actually "The post modern prometheus."

If you remember enough about it, you could probably find out which episode it is at www.tvtome.com

Thanks:thumbsup:

The episode that Miss Spaulding was referring to is called Aqua Mala. They said it is spanish for bad water.

The episode I was talking about that scared me half to death is called Home.

"Home" was not rerun for a few years because it was considered so disturbing, then when they finally did it came with a warning.

Ha, just watched Josie Chans aliens 2 nights ago. ;) It is funny. Even the collecters set DVD has a warning on "Home"

My wife got the set on E-Bay for $99 + shipping, which is a pretty good deal for all 9 seasons, plus documentaries on each season.

I want to know more about the ship they find on the African coast (& the one in Canada) in seasons 7 - 9 - the ship with all the Scriptures & genetic info written on it's hull.

the ship that had scripture, and the code for the human denoime (i think thats what it is called) etc etc etc was very interesting, like chris carter was some how trying to bring together literally ALL theories of life into one thing.
I enjoyed the episodes about religious stuff, especialkly having Scully seem to have a deep faith in God..

What I found interesting is how Scully has such faith in God, yet she had such a hard time at the beginning believing in UFOs and paranormal phenomenon. Of course she does admit she's been away from the church for awhile until certain events test her faith. I think it's cool when the snake handling preacher forces her hand into the snake cage but they don't bite her at all. They bit Mulder though.

I think those episodes about the ship with scriptures and human genome are trying to promote that theory of "panspermia" where people believe life was brought to earth from other planets, or genetically engineered by aliens from other worlds. I believe there are "aliens" (that's a whole complex topic itself) but I believe God created humans from the elements of the earth. After that there has been some interaction such as Genesis 6, but people were made here from here. There's even one theory that says other worlds were colonized by people from earth and that earth was the original wellspring of life.
Anyways, I think X-Files tries to promote the panspermia theory

Speaking of Scully's faith. I loved the one where she is the only one who believes the little boy with the stigmata. How near the end of the episode the boy she saves looks at her and says I knew you would come. My favorite part of that episode is when she is in confession, and the priest asked her if she believes that God still speaks to people today, she says yes but she is afraid no one is listening!!!!!!!! I always interpreted that as a direct comment for the non believer.

I always liked X-Files too. Once in a while I catch the re-runs. There are a few that really got to me, seasoned horror film addict that I am. ;) I also liked the between-the-lines stuff going on such as the confessional scene Scully was in. (Thanks Calmness for the reminder of that one)... X-Files will not be easily replaced. It will be a classic always. I did catch an old, old (B & W) Twilight Zone the other night, and amazingly I didn't remember it! That was another good, creepy show! We just bought "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and that is a definite classic, and one of the best!

"Darkness Falls" is still the episode that frightens me the most. Always had a distaste for insects, this episode certainly played on those fears.

However, I think the most memorable for me is "Jose Chung's From Outer Space." I always like Rashomonesque stories where each flashback muddles our perception of what really happened and reveals more about the person telling it than what actually happened (It's no coincidence that my favorite episode of Farscape is "The Ugly Truth"). But this type of story is particularly appropriate for the X-Files as there is never consensus in real paranormal events. There are those with outlandish stories, those who say nothing happened, and those in the middle at every event, so one often walks away more confused than before they learned anything. The opening moments of this episode bear more than a little resemblance to a (supposedly) real report in The Mothman Prophecies, particularly how the boyfriend doesn't come forward immediately because if his girlfriend's father knew what they were doing, he'd kill them. The fact that all that really results from the happenings are not revelations but exploitations (the book, the autopsy video, the guy who starts the cult) also rings very true. So much to love about this episode.
