I'm just curious how many of u r going to World Youth Day 2002 in Toronto this summer. Also, if anybody has been involved in past World Youth Days what were they like?

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My wife and I are going. But we've never attended before. I just heard the one in Denver was huge as in hundreds of thousands attending Mass on the last day of that particular WYD. Bring lots of pins and t-shirts and prayer cards from your parish, because everyone swaps them at WYD too.

I want to go. DH got to go to Denver with his youth group. He said it was big, crowded, and a bit confusing. He won't let us go, unless I can get tickets to one of the smaller events. Also, I have to find a decent room for a decent price (he doesn't want to sleep in our car or on the ground with a baby). And I told him a year ago that we needed to start planning....

We are an Easter people!
I have never gone to a WYD, but did get to go to the youth rally when in 1999 when the Pope was in St. Louis. It was smaller, 20,000 people, so that was nice. My biggest advice was be prepared to be moved. I know that God placed me at the Rally for a reason and it was incredibly spiritually moving. I can't even describe how powerful it was. Prepare, Prepare, Prepare! You will be moved!
